Whenever Howard scores 20+ points, the Mavericks are, I believe, 24-0. Seems like more of a coincidence to me. The key to the series for Dallas will definitely to make sure Howard gets more touches along with Nowitzki.

The odds of 24-0 being a coincidence are astronomical. When Howard is on the whole team plays better. For Howard to play well he has to have alot of touches, and most importantly he cannot draw more than 2 fouls in the first half. I'm just quoting the other Mavericks' players. It is really pretty simple and a similar stat can probably be found on most rosters, that when you get a 20 point performance from your 2nd or 3rd offensive option then odds are good that on a great team that's playing good defense a win is likely. Several of those wins, however, could have been losses which is the quirk. Howard brings the hustle, the timely steal, offensive rebound or jumper just when he's turned it over and missed a couple of chippies that seems to snatch a victory from the undertow of an NBA 4th quarter.

Well if this is the case then Avery needs to make sure that he gets enough touches. Josh will be a star on this team in the future even though he is already making a big name for himself now. Out of the three that Dallas had (Daniels, Harris, and Howard) Howard has made the biggest name for himself. Dirk and Howard will make this team either win or lose.

They usually say this stat every game too, when Howard is close to scoring 20 or about to.

It's not just the scoring. His rebounds jump from 4.2/game in losses to 7.0/game in wins.

The Spurs passed on him too despite Tim Duncan's request that they take him.
Popovich was claiming he wanted Howard too but "reluctantly" signed off on trading their pick to the Suns who selected Barbosa.

Howard is going to be the Mavs key to a championship outside of Dirk in these finals.

If he can come in and throw in some huge games scoring and rebounding, the Mavs should have a clear advantage in this series.
