Well I had an idea to get some conversation going as we wait for the draft to get here. King has said he wants to move up. One of the targets he might be trying to get is Randy Foye, who is being projected in many mock drafts to be taken in the number five spot by the Hawks or at number seven by the Celtics. So here is the point of the thread. Propose a trade idea to move up, and who you will target at the spot. My proposed trade is Willie Green (sign and trade), Kyle Korver, and the thirteenth pick to Atlanta for the number five pick. This trade would give the Hawks a shooter in Kyle Korver who can spread the court. Putting Korver next to Salim Stoudamire would give the Hawks a deadly long range combo. They also get Willie Green who when healthy has shown the ability to be a great scorer, and run the point. It also allows the Hawks the opportunity to move down, and draft a guy they really like in Sheldon Williams. For us we open up a roster spot, and are able to draft Randy Foye. New lineup PG- Randy Foye/ Kevin Ollie/ Louis Williams SG- Allen Iverson/ Johnny Salmons/ Louis Williamms SF- Andre Iguodala/ Johnny Salmons PF- Chris Webber/ Steven Hunter/ Shavlik Randolph C- Samuel Dalembert/ Steven Hunter Should we acquire a second round pick we could use it on a guy like Steven Smith who can play power forward. Not to mention we could sign a power forward in free agency. We could also bring in David Noel to back up Andre Iguodala since he is projected to go undrafted. Not the greatest trade idea, but just throwing an idea out there.
hm, i dont know. i love the idea of trading up and grabbing a guy like randy foye, but korver and willie for the number 5 pick is too much IMO. although foye would be a great addition to the team, this draft is very deep so there will still be a lot of talent left come our 13th pick. we can probably still get a guy like shannon brown or sheldon williams. with that being said, i wouldnt trade korver and willie for the 5th pick. that is too much. korver is a good three point shooter, and i expect him to bounce back after a dissappionting year. i have always loved willie. the guy showed a lot of heart coming back last season, and did really well in limited minutes. we already have problems with depth, so i dont think this trade will pan out well for us. maybe if we trade one of them (korver or willie), along with salmons (sign and trade) and our 13th pick for the 5? it would basically mean us trading away one of our players along with our pick for a higher pick, since i dont see salmons returning to the sixers next season. another team to look out for is the raptors. i heard they were looking to trade down, but i doubt we have enough talent to land the #1 overall pick
I love the idea of trading up but if we're going to trade up I hope it's not for Randy Foye. Every year you see a handful of 6'3" shooting guard/point guards who can flat out put the ball in the basket. What comes by once in five years is Tyrus Thomas. If he goes past #4 I hope Billy King pulls the trigger. Here's a guy at 6'9" can play at the 4 for us with Webber playing at the 3 and provide that athletic/shot blocking/defensive player that fills pretty much all of our needs.
I do like the idea of moving up, and accoring to Chad Ford the 76ers do want to move up. As for your trade Best Kept Secret, I'm not to sure about it. First off, I don't know if the Hawks would be willing to let go of that 5th round pick for just Korver and Green. Rumor has it they are looking to draft a PG, and they need a PG. Also, if we traded Korver we would have nobody to spread the floor, and he is our only "consistent" threat from deep. According to Ford, the 76ers are using Dalembert as bait. If this is true, I think the Hawks might have interest. Remember, it was rumored that they were actually going to go after Dalembert when he was a free agent. Atl also has the cap space to take on his ridiculous contract. Maybe our lottery pick and Sam, for the Hawks 5th overall pick and maybe another player. If we did get the 5th pick, I'm not sure if I would take Randy Foye. I like him as a player but if the 76ers plan on keeping AI (which it sounds like they will) then I don't think a backcourt consisting of Allen and Foye would work out defensivly. Foye's biggest attribute is his ability to score the ball. Maybe he could play a Ben Gordon role for us and come off the bench and provide some instant offense, something the 76ers really lack. Billy King said he wants an athletic swingman. Lets say t he 76ers did get the number five pick in the draft, maybe they could draft Rudy Gay?udy does fit what King claims he is looking for, and at number five I think there would be a good chance the 76ers could pick him. LaMarcus Aldridge could still be on the board at the fifth pick as well, and he could probably be Dalemberts replacement. The 76ers can go many ways if they were to get the 5th pick, but its hard to tell what direction this team wants to go to and if they are even interested in the Hawks pick, or if the Hawks are even interested in trading their pick.
