I find it interesting that Leon Powe has canceled all his workouts since he worked out for us. He supposedly had a good workout and impressed us. He's a banger and can muscle his way to rebounds and get whatever shot he wants in the post. Personally, I love the cat. I think he can come in right away and have an impact. At his full potential, I can easily see him putting up 18 and 11 for us. But the fact that he's canceled his workouts...did we promise to select him at 26? I wouldn't mind that at all. He's had a clean bill of health for a while, his knees are reportedly holding up fine. If he's available, I say we grab him.
Well I am all with you on that one Matt. As long as his knees are alright this guy could soar with the Lakers. LA is missing another big man and I think that Powe is the guy. At 26, he will still be there and hey why not take a shot at him and see if he will work.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFreshPrince:</div><div class="quote_post">How does powe play, ive never seen him due to the fact hat he plays on the west coast.</div> He's very similar to Elton Brand. He's a very strong, 6'8 PF who can score from anywhere in the post and grab boards. He has the wingspan of someone 7'2, as well.

I didn't get to see Powe that much, but when I did I was very impressed with him. I think he would be a great pick for the Lakers if he's still there at 26. That would allow Odom to stay at SF. I would either draft him or a PG.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post">are there any worries that he cancelled the workouts because of his knees?</div> No, his knees have held up and every physician who's examined them have given Powe a clean bill of health. The only concern is "how long" can his knees hold up, and no one can answer that.
For those of you who don't know about Powe, here are his averages: 20.5 PPG, 10.1 RPG, and 1.4 APG He was a 20/10 guy in college. There is no reason why he can't translate that into the NBA.

Especially in Powe's case, there is one very prominent reason that may prevent him from getting close to those numbers, and that is obviously SIZE. Powe is extremely small for a PF, and I would venture to say a 6'8'' listing is very generous. From what I see, he looks to be about the same size as Kobe. At most, he is Ron Artest's size. I think Powe is much closer to a Ryan Gomes than he is an Elton Brand. Could he be helpful to the LAkers, sure! But he's not something to get over excited about IMO.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trench:</div><div class="quote_post">Im very interested in this guy. His sig has been on shapes profile all season.</div> Hah! I've been a Leon Powe fan since his high school days. If the Lakers draft him it will be bitter sweet for me. I want him to go to the perfect team where he can get an opportunity to develop and live up to his potential, I'm not sure if Los Angeles would be the place for him. He's always been the number one option and coming to the Lakers he's going to have to adjust to becoming a role player and learning how to score without the offense being run through him. I think he'd be amazing for a team like Dallas or Seattle. Those teams have compliment big men in Dirk and Shard who can score from the perimeter while Powe bangs down low and provides inside scoring. He needs to go to a team with a dominant center or a team with a lot of perimeter fire power. Lakers obviously liked what they saw in him, he's an intelligent player and very patient with the basketball. He never tries to do more than he can and is a throw back player. His back to the basket game is solid and better than any of the big men who will be taken ahead of him.
