Just last summer Bulls fans your wondering, checking every site they could, to try to find any information on whether or not the Bulls where getting closer to resigning there two young free agent big men. Eventually, Chandler was resigned to a huge deal. While Curry was moved to New York in a sign and trade deal, that ended up getting the Bulls the 2nd overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft. Now nearly a season later could the exodus of Curry be the final nail in the coffin to send Chandler out of Chicago? Some people have been suggesting that the Bulls might go big with both of their picks in this years NBA draft. Although, it is far from a general consensus it is one that should be noted. If the Bulls where to acquire two young big men in the draft, more than likely they will get at least one. Would that eventually lead to Chandler being traded from the Bulls for perhaps expiring contracts, to resign Gordon and Deng, or in a package to get a superstar? For example say the Bulls drafted Splitter and Aldridge. Then went out in free agency and signed Nazr Muhammad and/or Al Harrington. Is Chandler still part of our core of the future? Or will he soon be dawning a new uniform?
Last season I was really excited about the Bulls resigning Chandler even though we overpaid him. Personally I think the Bulls should try to get Aldridge with the 2nd pick if Toronto doesn't draft him. I wouldn't mind also getting Roy but the chances are slim to none that he would fall to the 16th pick. I like the idea of the Bulls drafting a big man with both their picks. The idea of drafting a big 2 guard is sort of overrated IMO. It would be smarter to get a veteran one through free agency. I think Gordon will be able to get the job done on defense in the future, he certainly has the strength, and he just needs to work on it a little more. If Joe Dumars could be such a good defender I don’t see why Gordon couldn't be. Since there is such a good chance of Splitter pulling out of the draft it would be a good idea using are two draft picks on Aldridge and either Shelden Williams (another winner) or Cedric Simmons (a beast down low with great potential). Chandler hasn't shown me much of anything this past season other than that he has absolutely no offense game and can't keep himself from getting in foul trouble. I would really like to trade him and his huge contract away so we will have room to resign Gordon, Hinrich, Deng, and our other young players.
chandler should be a part of our future, we put so much stock in him..we have to keep him around. Plus i think he will develop into a descent offensive player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting SP23:</div><div class="quote_post">I think it will be based on what Chandler does this off-season.</div> i completely agree, chandler came into last season out of shape because he didn't want to work out until he got a new contract, he could be a whole different player this year.
Now the question is will the organization give him that opportunity? Should they draft big with both picks, and make several signings in the free agent period, chances are they will already be looking into trading Chandler before the season even gets underway. I guess only time will tell, but Paxson has never really shown any attachment to any of the players on the roster, excluding Hinrich, so I could see him moving Chandler before the season gets underway if he has a taker.
