I never saw what the hype about Lamacrus Aldrige was anyway. He's way too perimeter and doesn't really bang his way inside to get closer shots. He just likes to shoot over people sort of like how Murphy operates... He's too much like Channing Frye who was #8 in a deeper draft.

LSU on the other hand, they've got two impressive bigs. Glen "Big Baby" Davis and Tyrus Thomas. Thomas is like the second coming of Kenyon Martin. Davis is like having that one big dude that shoots perimeter shots and can play inside... I think Robert Traylor?

I wouldn't mind Jamaal Magloire because we could use another PF/C. I don't know if I want Al Harrington...

Rudy Gay and Patrick O'Bryant is okay if we're drafting for need. Both have some good upside. I'd prefer Rudy Gay to Patrick O' Bryant because of the hype factor of him being #1 overall at one point. He does a lot of things well, but nothing spectacular just yet. Just imagine if he turns it on like Boris Diaw did.

Patrick O'Bryant does sound cool though because it's like if Shaq and Kobe combined last names.

Well, it was one of Aldridge's worst games, and hurt his draft stock a little, so you have to look at his form, play and project a little. I see a bit of Channing Frye, too. His upside is Jermaine O'Neal (another O'). But I like Tyrus Thomas because he's so aggressive and the Warriors need some power. Thomas should put on some muscle and weight as he fills out. Baron should be able to get the ball to him inside and he should be a good pick n' row player.

As for Al Harrington, he's better than Murphy or what Ike will ever be and still relatively young at 27. While he doesn't rebound as well as Murph, he excells in passing and playing D. He can get about 18 ppg. We're not trading an all-star, so I wouldn't expect an all-star in return.

Agree with you there, Aldridge played horrible in the LSU game but from watching those highlight videos theres still alot to like about him. His footwork is excellent and fluid, not very mechanical and it seems to come very natural for him. His post moves had very nice technique too, high release on the turnaround jumper, high and accurate on that hook shot he attempted. Even though the shots weren't going in theres alot to like about him. In the post he reminds me alot of KG, neither Aldridge nor KG really bang in the low post and they both almost always go to the turnaround jumpshot. JO isn't too bad of a best case scenario for Aldrige but I see him as being a guy who would be a great complimentary player playing alongside an elite guard.

Thomas' aggressiveness and athleticism definitely makes him a great prospect even thogh he isn't as tall or polished as Aldridge. He seems like he'll be Kenyon Martin with a jumpshot, which is pretty nice. He seems like he'd be a better fit alongside a center who can score but doesn't do the dirty work (Eddy Curry, Yao, Ilgauskus, etc.). I'd definitely love for the Warriors to get an athletic shot blocking presence and an intimidator inside because we are a very soft team right now. Biedrins is just too nice, Foyle is Foyle, Murphy won't get within 5 feet of the basket until theres a potential rebound coming, and Ike can bang around on offense but hes less assertive on defense. Getting a Thomas, POB, Simmons, or Saer Sene would definitely make other players think twice about driving the lane.

I wouldn't say the Harrington is better than Murphy or what Ike will be. He never averaged over 14 ppg until before he went to the Hawks and his rebounding numbers are very underwhelming (6.9 rpg). I think Ike could easily average 18 and 7 on a terrible team like that. The last 5 games of the season when all of our good players were out Ike averaged 16.6 ppg, 8.6 rpg, and 1.4 bpg and thats just at the end of his rookie season where he didn't even get a training camp or pre-season to adjust. Murphy is a much better rebounder than Harrington and while Murphy isn't qiute the scorer that Harrington is, on a (very) bad team Murphy could come close to those numbers.

I think we'd be better off focusing on getting a defensive center like Haywood, Mohammed, Nesterovic, etc. because whether we have Ike or Murphy we'll have decent scoring at the 4. All the center needs to do is cover Murph/Ike's asses and catch and dunk the ball.

A Harrington,to us,would be a SF...as would Tyrus Thomas. Maybe neither is the classic sf,but Dunleavy is such dead weight we'd be better off. I mainly just hope Mully avoids dumb trades and contract extensions and Monty is sucked out of a movin' airplane and never located.

So I guess a Murphy or Foyle at center and Ike Diogu at PF is in order?

Those two bozos Foyle and Murphy are largely responsible for the way we play slow ball and can't defend as much as Dunleavy and Fisher are. We got too many damned guys that just suck and our stars can't hit free throws or be much better on defense. How sad is that? Murphy + Dfish can shoot, but our own guards can't even hit the easiest points of the game. Flaws all around. Yet we'll blame the coach in every single post more than we do Mullin who made this all happen. That's like firing a gun into a crowd and blaming the guy that got hit for just standing there.

Back to Tyrus though. Good athleticism, nice short to midrange shot, great passer and tenacious defender and rebounder. If he was a ballhandler, I'd love him. Actually, I wouldn't mind him now because we suck. Better to gamble on a consensus guy than some guy from Senegal who just started playing hoops like last week. But... Tyrus has 66% average free throw shooting, though. WTF? Do we want to continue the sad tradition of shooting ourselves in the foot and choking in close games? Last I checked, I don't think we can blame coaching for bad free throw shooting, unless you want to make up more stuff about why Foyle should be a part of getting more touches. I guess there's nothing like bricking shots at the foul line and watching our overpaid, raw 8 year veteran Carribean center play volleyball on rebounds and hot potato with the out of bounds markers.

Defense and inside presence and bench depth is largely why we get our butts kicked more than ever, not so much Dunleavy sucking more than usual or Monty not wanting to coach a style that doesn't suit so many of his boss, Chris Mullin's, own signings. I would love to run if we had more to build around Jrich and Baron and every single game of an 82 game season was March or April, but we don't. Plus, I dont like the idea of playing Baron and Jrich 48 minutes a game because nobody else can score and play defense and do other things.

I guess some people forget how badly we dig ourselves deeper when we play transition defense when we run and hoist. I mean just because we score in 12 seconds with an alley-oop dunk or a long three a few times off of one pass doesn't mean the other team can't punk our asses just as easily running back the other way. What happens if we're stuck in a non-transition game? Are we going iso without Baron or are we going to go to rookies and win by dunks, blind faith, and 3-point shots? Well let's hope those euro projects and guys recently drafted can hurry up and make Murphy/Foyle/Dunleavy/Fisher all a big and happy overpaid bench. Then our shooting will probably suck and we'll eventually need those same guys who can't run very well in transition back on the floor to shoot the ball: Fisher/Murphy/Dunleavy and the rest of the hated guys that shoot low 40's % and can't move very fast or defend to lead our wonderful open court running game which has no shooting.

Running fast breaks without Baron when you don't score/shoot that well and play non-existant D sounds good to me... <sarcasm> Even with Baron, it's probably not safe unless you want to play the poor bastard 48 minutes a game or yell at Monty for taking him out anytime the guy needs rest. I mean c'mon I watched the season and some guys on forums were like "keep him in! Damn you Monty!" What? We want to play him 40 minutes a game for 82 games a season and then have him break down sooner and complain why we have to see Fisher even more? I don't see how we couldn't blame an injury to our star player or deny that Baron can do wonderful things, but only if his teammates step up and Baron is doing everything he can to make his teammates better. I think the coach isn't accountable as much as what the players show when they were with Baron and when they played without. After all, a coach is only as strong as the group of players given to him. Just look at Larry Brown and how a former nba player gm just like Mullin totally punked him with the roster already set in place. If Montgomery was given a better team like Flip Saunders, then we can start to make some judgements.

Also it doesn't help that the guy capable of leading a franchise, Baron Davis, was digging his own hole too. + 12 years of playoff drought, star players getting hurt, lack of vision from a handul of GMs, and numerous coach firings pretty much shouldn't suprise anyone of this season's outcome and all the years before. St. Jean was the guy that had to clean up after everybody and history has been repeating itself with the poor signings, more bad moves than good moves or lack of moves,
and neither great offense or defense or balanced offense and defense. But it's been only two years so far under Mullin, so I'm not even sure that's a fair enough time to get panicky about this franchise. It certainly wasn't rag to riches if you know what I mean, unless Gilbert Arenas and Jamison combined are worldbeaters in the Western Conference.
