It has been said for months that Ben Gordon does not like his role in Chicago and would actually like to be the starting point guard. He is not pass oriented enough to start at point in Scott Skiles offense, but would be a great point playing next to Kobe in the triangle. The guy can shoot and he can penetrate and find the open man when necessary. He is a proven gunner with big shot capabilities and not afraid to take the big shot in the fourth quarter. The Lakers have been searching for a consistent performer next to Kobe for years and Gordon may be the best possibility in the draft or through trade. The Bulls need a proven post scorer and Odom showed in the playoffs he can actually carry a team a bit and his stock right now is at its highest. The Bulls have been said to be in love with Odom, who would step right in and start at power forward for them and allow Tyson Chandler the opportunity to do what he does best, rebound and play defense. So the Lakers trade Odom and their number 26 pick to Chicago for Gordon, Luel Deng, who really has no spot with Nocioni starting in Chicago, and the Bulls 16th pick in this year's draft. Chicago can get their power forward, take Brandon Roy with the second pick to play along with Heinrich and then take the best player available with the Lakers 26th pick. The Lakers will gain two starters in Gordon and Deng which will immediately make them more athletic and a better scoring team. With the Bulls 16th pick they can grab the best player available or the best power forward available. Now the Lakers dont have to spend it's entire mid level exemption on a point guard like Banks an can look to pick up a big man instead and throw some money at Gooden perhaps in a sign and trade. Cleveland is over the cap and unless they trade Big Z wont be able to resign Gooden. Plus the Lakers get immediate salary cap relief with the trade of Odom for at least one year.
Gordon and Deng? No, and move down in the draft as well? That is way too much. Odom is a good player, but he is way too inconsistent to get you both those players. Deng had a good season for us, and will only get better is still very young and has immense potential. He does have a spot in the Bulls lineup with, or without Nocioni playing. Skiles often uses a small lineup with Nocioni at the power forward spot, and Deng at the small forward slot. There is no way the Bulls would package two young talents that where both top ten picks in there draft class for Odom. If they hold steady, and draft Aldridge with our second pick, and Brewer with the 16th they have a way better lineup than if this trade went down. So there is no need for them to do this trade. not only that, but the Bulls also have more than enough money to make some big moves in free agency. Be it bringing in Nazr Mohammad from the San Antonio Spurs, who is a Chicago native, and just turned down a four year extension with the Spurs, or sign make a run at Ben Wallace. Also about Gordon wanting to play point guard. There was no confirmation of that, and the only reports of that have come out of the New York media, which is like the national inquirer for basketball. Ben Gordon said on “Quite Frankly” that he wants to remain a Chicago Bull for his entire career, and Paxson told Chicago newspapers that he has no plans to include Gordon in any trades unless it makes the Bulls significantly better. P.S: You guys are really overrating Odoms worth. Despite having all the physical tools to suceed Odom has never lived up the hype since being drafted. He is still a pretty good overall player, but he is not a franchise player, and is too inconsistent to get you multiple good players and a higher draft pick in return.
Odom not enough for Gordon and 16th pick? Odom is by far the most underrated player in the league. I think that deal is perfect for both teams considering the fact that Odom is an integral part of the Lakers' future success. Would adding Chris Mihm in the deal work? Both Odom and Mihm would fill needs for the Bulls. Such a deal, were it to be, goes against the rule of never trading big for small.

Deng was a top ten pick in the same draft class as Gordon, and is still young, and developing. He spent only one season at Duke before coming to the pros and still averages around 13 points a game for the Bulls, and has had several 20 point games this season. You are telling me you would trade two top ten picks, and a 16th for Odom and a 26th? That?s a joke. If Odom is such a ?integral key? the Lakers future success why would you be talking about trading him? Odom has talent, but carries way to much baggage, and question marks with him. He is not consistent, and has been in the league for many years. He will look great one night come back the next, and be a non factor. Plus he would add a big contract to our cap. So we would not only be losing two great young players and a high draft pick, but possibly a chance to bring in a big named free agent during the off season. It makes no sense for the Bulls to do that. When they can just draft size, and bring in big men free agent during the off season. They can keep our young talent, and still add size.
I'd do Gordon, Chandler and the 16 for Odom. Honestly, I think that's a very fair deal. Chandler is a disappointment, but disappointments seem to thrive under Phil Jackson. He's also another big body. Gordon would start from day 1 at point.
gordan and deng for odom, leave out the draft picks and that may work. I still dont see why the heck the bulls would want odom though. He has a nasty contract and isnt much of a veteran leader which is what the bulls need

I like Chandler?s energy, and attitude towards the game, and am not trying to defend him, but he is still growing I wouldn't call him a bust yet. He didn?t really work out competitively last off season, or hit the weights hard in fear that the same thing that happened to Willie Green (ACL injury) would happen to him, and cost him big money. This upcoming off season will be the biggest of his career thus far. If the Bulls bring in some good big men through free agency (Mohammad, Wallace, etc) and Chandler doesn?t improve I could see us trading him at the deadline. Also the thing about Gordon wanting to play point guard was never confirmed by him, or his agent. It was just reported by an unnamed source in the New York Times (NBA?s national inquirer) he is starting in Chicago which is what he has always wanted, and like I said before he recently told SAS he wants to remain a Bull his entire career. I don?t see the Bulls trading for Odom or having any interest honestly. Any need we have for a big man will be addressed through the draft and via free agency.
The Lakers are running the Triangle offense, I don't see Chandler having the skillset to succeed in the offense. He can't shoot from midrange, he has no back to the basket post game, and he's terrible at passing the ball.
I dont know why I started this thread, But Phil Jackson will no way in hell trade Odom unless its for KG.
Gordon would definitely not fit with us. He gets into foul trouble too early in the game, and unlike what other people have said, he can't play point guard.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Prophecy:</div><div class="quote_post">Gordon would definitely not fit with us. So I?m not sure where your getting the point about foul trouble from. Also Ben Gordon if given the chance probably could play point guard. Heprobably would excel in the traingle offense due to the way the point guard is used. He would be a big up grade over the guy you guys got there right now (Parker).
