Forget the first round, the second round is where it's at.

It's stacked this year, too. Who are some players you'd like to see the Sonics snatch up?

I personally like Leon Powe, Steve Novak, James White, Mike Gansey, and Terrell Everett. Bobby Jones is reluctantly omitted from my list for being a Damien Wilkins clone.

Denham Brown, Guillermo Diaz, Mike Gansey, PJ Tucker, Louis Amundson, and Brad Newly are all versatile player that I imagine could make our roster next season.

I do have a feeling that there are going to be more second round surprises in this draft than in most other drafts. It seems as if the second round prospects have better resumes than many of the projected first round picks.

David Locke is keeping a "Draft Blog" at supersonics.com

    http://www.nba.com/sonics/news/06draftblog.html

He should be updating it daily.

Also...anyone know where Will Conroy is? Was he with some DL team? Maybe we should think about bringing him into camp...

I think he's going to be in the Spurs camp.

    From the article posted:
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Most of the top draft picks have declined to work at Orlando. Look for one or two players at Orlando to break into the top 15 of the draft. It happens every year. </div>

Has that actually ever happened, even once? Last year only three players from the Orlando camp made it to the first round (Head, Maxiell, and Lee). It's become an over-glorified Portsmouth draft camp. The main event at the whole show is the physical-only portion of the camp.

According to DraftExpress (although they can be slow to update), the Sonics have only worked out a few potential second rounders: Alexander Johnson, Saer Sene, Paul Millsap, and James White. I'd pass on Johnson personally. While I don't know a lot about the Sonics' team needs, I was really unimpressed with his brief career at Florida State, mainly because of his inconsistency and his weight issues, both of which hint to a lack of motivation and work ethic, a red flag in the draft. Sene would probably be a great second round pick but just not for the Sonics, with Swift and Petro already developing in the frontcourt. That leaves Millsap and White as the only second round prospects who the Sonics have worked out, either of which would be a hell of a steal at #40. When I used to watch James White down at Florida, I never would have expected to see him out of the lottery, because he's so explosive and is off the charts athletic. He can play a few different positions too, and from reading the Sonics' forum draft threads, it seems like that's a big issue. How do you guys see James White (or Paul Millsap) fitting into your future plans?

Millsap has looked really disappointing so far, and the only thing I know about James White is he can dunk from the FT line with ease.

I feel like James White has been getting a bad rap because he's not a star. He's still a good player who should be able to provide a Josh Smith type game off the bench. I certainly wouldn't mind him on the Sonics if he can play defense well enough.

James White was doing that in high-school. My main concern is if he's gotten any better since then.
