In Review: Offense: Our Offensive scheme wasn't much in the way of a scheme. If you will, Allen Iverson and Chris Webber simply played catch, if neither of them could get an open shot, there would be either A: A shot Clock Violation or B: An Ill-advised shot. 75 percent of the time, we took jumpers, this is unexceptable. Isolation Matches by Kyle Korver and Andre Iguodala were the only bright spots in an otherwise disasterous offensive coaching performance by coach Maurice Cheeks. The Answer: Obviously, things would've been much better if we had an Inside Presense. Samuel Dalembert had yet to make any progress in terms of low-post scoring, and Chris Webber seems to define any contact in the paint. That said we need a Low-post scorer. I would take Minnesota's deal that requires us giving up Allen Iverson, and acquiring the #6th pick. The Problem is, I'm not so sure If Rudy Gay, Tyrus Thomas among other low-post scorers would be there at #6. And even if they were. I'm not so sure if Rashad Mcants is fully developed to be a starter, and is Andre Iguodala willing to start at the 3. So for that reason, I turn to the Denver Nuggets, who recently offered us a deal of Kenyon Martin, Andre Miller, Vohshon Lenard for Allen Iverson. If the Denver Nuggets take on the majority of Kenyon Martin's contract, we might have a 6 million dollar man starting at the Small Forward position, and a guy to finally man-up the point in Andre Miller. We also get Voshon Lenard, who if Healthy, can be a deadly 3pt shooter, and/or make Andre Iguodala compete on the offensive end. That trade would make us signifcantly better on the offensive end. There was a rumor of Allen Iverson for Josh Childress and #3. I do not think this trade improves us in anyway, and I don't think we'd be even talking to Atlanta, so give up all hope of that. With the trade to the Denver Nuggets completed, this would be our projected starting 5. C: Samuel Dalembert PF: Chris Webber SF: Kenyon Martin SG: Voshon Lenard (Or Andre Iguodala) PG: Andre Miller. One of the things I realize about this lineup, is that I have still have Chris Webber. An obvious liability in my plan to increase inside-scoring production. I must shop him around, luckily there is Isiah Thomas and the New York Knicks. Jalen Rose's 16 million dollar expiring contract interests me, and if Kevin Mchale is serious in the statement that Garnett would not leave Minnesota, Isiah Thomas is as a good as done in getting a franchise guy. That said, I offer him a Webber for Jalen Rose/21st first round pick deal. The reason this works for the Knicks is simple '20-10' (Sixer fans, keep quiet, don't let Isiah Thomas hear you!). For us, it's also very simple, Jalen Rose is a perimeter scoring threat, and can penertrate into the rack. He gives us the inside-outside scoring option we've been looking for. Also Jalen Rose was a good defensive player during his days with the Wolverines. C: Samuel Dalembert PF: Kenyon Martin SF: Jalen Rose SG: Voshon Lenard (Or Iggy) PG: Andre Miller. With the 13th pick in the draft, the 76ers select F/C Cederic Simmons/Or Shawne Williams. The reason I would pick Cederic Simmons is his ability to shoot from the perimeter. Obviously a fast-break guy, Kenyon Martin feels the pressure of showing me he has an inside-game, the more rivalrys in training camp, the more bonded our team becomes. If we do indeed commit to running the floor, Shawne Williams would be the perfect fit, out of John Caliperi's Run N'Gun system. Considered by many the best athlete in the draft, if he drops to #13, he is a for-sure pick. With the 21st pick in the NBA draft, the 76ers select Guard Allan Ray out of Villanova, considered IMO the best of the 4 Wildcats. Allan Ray has nothing short of exceptional perimeter range and would be the best pick available. This is a pick of the future, as I try to bulid a team, that will soon be inherited by Louis Williams. (I also considered Shannon Brown here, but my fear is that many teams feel he is the better 2 guard (Which he is in terms of safeness). New Roster: C: Samuel Dalembert/Cederic Simmons (Or Williams)/Steven Hunter PF:Kenyon Martin (Or Simmons, Williams)/Hunter/Randolph SF:Jalen Rose/Iguodala/Barnes SG:Voshon Lenard (Or Iguodala)/Green/Louis Williams PG:Andre Miller (Or Louis Williams)/Green Please take note in that, this isn't the exactual things that I would do for the basketball team. This is just a numerous possibility of lineups I would do, if our goal was (and is indeed) to increase offensive production in the paint and perimeter. In Review: Defensive Intensity: More times then not, we would play somewhat sub-par defense, and that usually was the best defensive stance this team could muster. More times then not, guards that wanted to penertrate, did just that, and we probably allowed among the most points in the paint. (In the early going, we allowed the most in the season!) And so for that reason, in this fantasy world, like with the offensive adjustments I made, these GM moves will focus on the defensive end. The Solution: To Stop the Guards from penertrating, we must first get perimeter defenders. I'm sure Andre Iguodala did the best possible job he could, I am not worried about that. Kyle Korver Nor John Salmons were of any-help defensively. (Not to say that Kyle Korver won't be a signifcant part of this franchise, he will be, his charges are very critcal to my defense). And of-course, Allen Iverson's height prevents him from being able to guard most defenders, but I would like to see him give up his body on the defensive end like he does the offensive end. I seriously doubt that'll happen, so our woes lie on the 1-3 positions. With that let's go to the possible trades. The rumor that we would trade Allen Iverson to the Minnesota Timberwolves, for Marko Jaric, Ricky Davis, Rashad Mcants and the 6th overall pick would be the ideal one for this basketball team. Not much in the way of an offensive general, Marko Jaric does provide the defensive intensity this team needs at the 1 guard position. While I have no idea on Rashad Mcants's ability to play defense, I highly doubt a cancer like Ricky Davis can, that's not to say he won't be a beneifical 6th man off the bench for this franchise. The real Defensive player comes from the #6th pick that goes along with Marko Jaric. Many will be suprised at who I select, but I'll give my reasoning. With the 6th pick in the NBA draft, the 76ers select F Rudy Gay/ G/F Mardy Collins out of Uconn and Temple respectively. Why Rudy Gay? Great Arm strength, latteral ball movement, and the ability to score from the perimeter and the inside. He needs work on his body frame, but I am confident he'll develop into an All-around player. As for Mardy Collins, many believe he shouldn't be here, but he is a signifcant part of this franchise. Mardy Collins is a 6-6 guard, with the capabilitys of bringing the ball up. (In this case, he'll fight Andre Iguodala for the right to the Small Forward spot). Known for his great defense, and playing for a defensive-oriented coach. Mardy Collins would be the ideal fit for this team. C:Samuel Dalembert PF:Chris Webber SF:Mardy Collins (Or Rudy Gay) SG:Andre Iguodala (Or Rashad Mcants) PG: Marko Jaric (Or Louis Williams). With the 13th overall pick in the draft, the Philadelphia 76ers will select F-C Cederic Simmons out of NCS, Why? Great Jumpshooting ability, obvious size and hopefully some strength. He averaged 2.5 BPG in his career with the aggies. He will be replacing Chris Webber in the starting rotation and giving us a complete rotation. C: Samuel Dalembert-Cederic Simmons-Steven Hunter PF: Cederic Simmons-Steven Hunter-Shavlik Randolph SF:Mardy Collins (Rudy Gay)-Andre Iguodala-Matt Barnes Sg:Andre Iguodala-Rashad Mcants-Louis Williams PG-Marko Jaric-Louis Williams-Kevin Ollie See? One lineup is completely devoted to the offensive end of the ball, the other is completely devoted to the defensive side of the court. I hope Hypothetically speaking, I proved that I am the right man for the job in the future of a franchise I love dearly.
basically, i have just skimmed your post as of now. ill look into it more later and tell you my thoughts. i dont really disagree with much you have said, but allen ray is not a first round talent. the guy isnt really that athletic, and to tell you the truth, he isnt that great of a shooter, and i a liability on offense. he is undersized for the shooting guard spot, and doesnt have the skills to play point. ray should go around the mid second round IMO. i do not like cedric simmons and i think we would be better off taking someone like shannon brown. anyways, ill look into this more later and give you my opinions PS - you scared me a bit at first when i saw kenyon martin's name next to small forward. lol

I took the time to read through your post, and there where some points I agreed with, and some that I really didn't understand. Before I go into the possible lineups let me start off with the Allan Ray thing. Allan Ray was not the best of the four Villanova guards that where so key to their great season. Randy Foye was, by far, it’s not even a comparison. Foye was the one guy on that team who could take the ball to the basket, or hit the jumper. He was a great overall offensive player, and a good defender as well. Allan Ray was a shooter, but not much else. He is a good player, but no where near the talent level of Foye. There is a reason Foye is a projected lottery pick while Ray is a mid second rounder. I am not even sure if I would say Ray was better than Kyle Lowry last season. About the plays we ran this season I agree with you that it was too much back in forth between AI and Webber, but to play devils advocate for a second a large reason it was that was that way was because no one else came to the ball, or wanted to score half the time. I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing, or them not having a scorers mentality, but they just didn’t come to the ball, or demand it when they had obvious mismatches. Ok now to get the lineups I really don’t like the Nuggets trade at all. Kenyon Martin playing small forward next to Chris Webber are two huge defensive liabilities. Kenyon Martin will not be able to guard the small forwards we face on the other teams, and Chris Webber struggles to guard athletic power forwards. Andre Miller is a good point guard, and one that would fit in well with our team, but that is the only bright spot of that trade I see. Lenard has a tendency of gaining weight, and has had some conditioning issues in the past. He is not known for his defense either that gives us three guys with questionable defense in the starting lineup. Also Martin does not have the range of a small forward. If we took the Minnesota Wolves proposal, and acquired the 6th pick in the draft I would not use the 13th on Shawne Williams. Williams is a good prospect, but his NBA future as of right now is all based on potential, and how he continues to develop. There is a good chance he might end up being a bust, and from reports I have read scouts don’t expect him to be picked until the late teens. So we would be taking him rather early. Here is what I would do if the top the draft goes as expected I would use the 6th pick on Randy Foye, and then use the 13th on Mardy Collins. Does two local products would complement each other incredibly in our back court. Collins is a 6’6” point guard, and despite Foyes size (6’3”-6’4”) he can still defend well due to his strength, and body built. We could have Foye guarding the smaller of the two guards, and allow him to do what he does best (score) while Collins remains the primary ball handler. Of course that would be subject to change if Tyrus Thomas was still on the board. Thomas would give us the athletic power forward we have been looking for, for a while. If he was still on the board, and we had the sixth pick I would not hesitate for a moment to draft him. Then with the 13th I would pray Foye was still there, and if he was gone I would go with Mardy Collins Mccants has the potential to be a good player, but has not shown thus far in the NBA that it will happen. By having Collins and Foye in the back court it gives us a great young trio if all of them develop as expected. Not to mention we would have Iguodala at the three, and instant offense off the bench in Kyle Korver. If we also got Ricky Davis from the Wolves in the trade. I would also bring him off the bench. He played the role of sixth man in Boston and didn’t seem to have a problem with it. Having Mccants, Davis, and Korver all coming off the bench at the same time would make us one of the top teams in the NBA in bench scoring. Only thing that would concern me would be our defense when those guys are on the court, but it wouldn't be for a prolonged period of time so it’s not that big a concern. As far as the Webber trade to New York. I don’t see any reason why New York would do it, but I wouldn’t put anything passed Isiah Thomas. If we got that trade done we would be in prime position to be big players in the best free agent class in recent history (2007) with names like Lebron possibly on the market us being under the cap would be a great thing. Not saying we would get Lebron, but just giving an example. Another thing I would love to see us do is sign Jay Williams. He was the number two overall pick in the draft a couple years ago by the Bulls, and played great his rookie season making the all rookie second team. He had a triple double his first game in the league, and showed great potential. Reports are he is back in form. Back to being the player he was before the motorcycle accident. Only concern seems to be his explosive first step, and that will come with time. My ideal lineup for next season should we trade AI would be.... PG- Mardy Collins- Jay Williams- Louis Williams SG- Randy Foye- Ricky Davis- Rashard Mccants SF- Andre Iguodala - Kyle Korver - Ricky Davis PF- Chris Webber- Shavlik Randolph- Steven Hunter C- Samuel Dalembert- Seven Hunter We need to decide if we want to win now, or build for the future if it’s build for the future, with the lineup above our future looks bright. Now if we choose to keep AI, and try to build a championship team around him. Free agency is going to be the biggest key to this off season. We will need to bring in some defensive minded players in order to get this team any where. I’m talking about Reggie Evans, Ruben Patterson, etc. If we kept Allen I would love to see us acquire a second round pick, and bring in David Noel to our team should he go undrafted. This draft is extremely deep there are some great point guards who will be around late first round to early second round Dee Brown, Darius Washington Jr., Daniel Gibson, etc. if we could snatch one of them up I would be ecstatic. My lineup if we keep AI. PG- Randy Foye - Dee Brown- Willie Green SG- Allen Iverson- Willie Green- David Noel SF- Andre Iguodala- Kyle Korver- David Noel PF- Chris Webber- Reggie Evans - Shavlik Randolph C- Samuel Dalembert- Steven Hunter I still don’t think this is a championship lineup, but it’s the best I can think of with the players we have on this team right now, and the amount of money we have to spend in free agency (MLE). That is why I feel it is better for us to rebuild. If we are planning on rebuilding this is probably the best draft to do it in considering the depth. It goes 55 players deep in my opinion. To warp it up good post bro there where some real good points in it. Another thing I would like to say before I finish is regarding Rudy Gay. Drafting him would concern me a bit. He has so much potential, but he has yet to show that ability that scouts rave about on the court. This season was suppose to be his break out year in Uconn, but he had a sub par season. I don’t know if he would be motivated to be the best player he can be.
great points BKS. like i said, kenyon martin should not be used at power forward. allan ray is second round talent. also, i misread shawne williams as shelden williams. lol. anyways, i would love to see us draft both randy foye and mardy collins. that would be a dream come true. both great players who arent afraid to share the ball, and both local products as well. to tell you the truth, the best path for us to go IMO, is to rebuild. i dont have the faith that billy king will do much at all this off season, let alone build a championship team around AI. i would love to see us pick up david noel in free agency (if he goes undrafted). the guy has potential and has good athleticism. also, isnt he the guy who was on smitty's myspace?

Nice read, believe me, I'm pretty sure anyone can do a better job then Billy King but you have to remember he has to be trying his hardest to turn this team around (if that means anything). One part of your post really grabbed my attention: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Super_Sixer_Fan:</div><div class="quote_post">With the 13th pick in the draft, the 76ers select F/C Cederic Simmons/Or Shawne Williams. If you're going to compare him to Webber, he has no where close to the range C-Webb has. Simmons failed to knock down 8-12 foot jumpers night in and night out. Belive me, the team that drafts Simmons will draft him based on his athletic ability and huge wing span; not his ability to shoot from the perimeter. Being that you threw Shawne Williams' name out there in the same paragraph, and it was toward the end of your post I'm guessing you got the two mixed up. Williams is a guy who can grab respect from the defense with his shot, even from three point range. Although, if it does come down to picking Shawne Williams at 13 then I would much rather trade down with the Suns or Nets for their two picks. We can get Shawne Williams at 21 or 22 (depending on who we trade with) and then maybe the local point guard out of Villanova, Kyle Lowry, with the 27 or 23 (again, depending on who we trade with). Philadelphia fans wouldn't like us to trade out of the spot unless we find a way to prevent Lowry from leaving Philadelphia basketball.
