I have been hearing a lot of rumours that there will be a trade between the blazers and the raptors. Yesterday some Portland journalist wrote about how Colangelo and Patterson are really good friends and have been discussing a lot of trades. After that, a really close raptor source (according to hoopshype) said that the raptors and blazers are in a serious discussion about a trade that would like this: Raptors trade: Alvin Williams and the 1st overall pick Portland trades: 4th overall pick, Jack, and Darius Miles I personally like this trade..but it would be a gamble to put Miles in a raps uniform. He has a bad behaviour problem and his contract is pretty big.
This trade makes sense for both teams, and I really like Colangelo's vision on constructing the Raptors team. Darius Miles problems in Portland are overblown, for the simple fact he plays for the Blazers. He never had any issues prior to becoming a Blazer, I think the franchise has a lot of issues and Miles was just sick of the losing and lack of progress. Darius Miles would give the Raptors, yet another versatile forward who can handle the ball and finish around the basket. Colangelo is probably trying to get a feel for what Chicago and Charlotte plan to do. He still wants a shot at Bargnani, and if he's confident Bargnani falls to them at 4, then he'll pull the trigger on the deal. Portland does this deal because it makes their franchise more attractive to a buyer. A potential buyer gets their shot at the #1 pick in the draft and can put that player as the face of the franchise. My guess is the player Portland would end up taking is Adam Morrison. He has "it" and is a local star, which equates to a lot of ticket sales and jersey sales. He has his own following in the Washington/Oregon area and he would be a cashcow for the new ownership. Even in the worst case scenario Toronto is going to have it's shot at one of the top players in the draft, whether it's Roy, Tyrus, Gay, or Aldridge at #4 if Bargnani is off the board. Plus the addition of Jarrett Jack brings some stability to the backcourt and reunites him with Chris Bosh.
miles isnt a problem player they only reason hes looking like he is (or so i hear lol) is because everyone was blaming him for this horriable season and it was spoce to be his and randolph's team and miles didnt do his part and miles got mad because he only played like 1/2 the season or w/e
The only problem with Miles i see is his big contract.. which is like 8 mill for another 5 or 4 years.. He's still very young though if he comes to a place where he likes instead of being traded every where, i'd think he'd be a very good player.
This trade would be very nice. Jack and Bosh can work well together, and when you get Darius Miles you don't know what you will get but the potential is there.
I dont mind this either, at first I was thinking no, but after looking over it furthur, it would be good for both teams. Looks like Colangelo is finally getting into gear and trying to turn the franchise around, or maybe he is just scared of losing his job...

I would love this trade. I'm not sure why Toronto would do it but anything that gets us the #1 pick and rid of miles would be sweet.
well .. if we can pick up what we want at the four spot as opposed to #1 then i think it can work for both teams. Darius Miles is the kind of athletic player colangelo would want on his roster. If Portland is really high on #1 to protect their chances of getting the player they want then they have more use for the pick than the raptors in this case i guess.
i would only be cool with this trade if Colangelo is certain he can get the Player who is #1 overall on his board at the #4 slot. if the raptors feel they can trade down and still get the"guy" they wanted than lets do it.. its cheaper and we could get some guys with potential. But #1 overall picks generally tend to be special players and lets not risk losing the guy who is #1 on our board just to add a guy like D. miles
Darius Miles is still one of the younger guys in the league with that much experience, he's still in his early twenty's, Jack was a team-mate of Bosh's in the NCAA and the raptors wanted to draft him from what I read when last years draft was around and the 4th pick isnt much of a drop off, maybe we're going after Brandon Roy? Jack would also be a good PG, he's more of a defensively oriented type of player, we need that we'd have a backcourt with Mo Pete and him if we got him. Darius would fill what we need at the three but would we move Charlie and Bosh down a position?
darius miles will be a good addition until his contract expires he also needs a good coach to make him play his heart out not sure if mitchell is a good coach for him anyways personally this trade is a good trade although i like the charlotte offer of Knight better miles not be a team player and knight is as good a team player are you can get
Here's a nice piece of info from the latest mock draft on Insider ... Look for the Blazers to attempt to move up in the draft to get him. They're offering the Raptors anyone on the roster with the exception of Martell Webster and Jarrett Jack. How about Sebastian Telfair + swapping picks?
I wouldn't mind that trade. The Raps get a young PG with potential, plus Colangelo gets a better idea of who to draft with what's available at #4 since their is no clear cut #1 choice.

I mean Jack's solid and all...but i dont get why they'd choose to label him as "staying", over other players. Webster i get.
I'd like to see the raptors add some depth to there rotation. Viktor Khryapa and Travis Outlaw are players on the portland roster that I think could help improve our bench.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting authentiq:</div><div class="quote_post">i never thought of JJ and Bosh back together again..</div> Yeah, that would be funny if the two hated each other. I wonder what possible deals could work once BYC status no longer applies. I think D-Miles has it on his contract. Not sure about D-Miles, but he looked pretty impressive at times as a nice rebounder, ballhandler, shotblocker and midrange scorer. The only dilemma is the attitude. That and the fact most Raps fans will probably bang their head against the wall watching this guy shoot free throws or try to finish in traffic. His "bull horns" gesture might cause a few to groan and roll their eyes in disbelief.
