What is your dream offseason? We have the #11 pick, then we have the 41st, 44th, and 50th picks. You can incorporate trades and stuff.... Also, you can add players through free agency and resign players. I'll reply with mine soon, once I research more on the 2nd rounders.
#11-Rodney Carney #41-Hassan Adams #44-Marco Killngsworth #50-Allan Ray That would be a great draft for Orlando.
Draft Orlando Magic trade: Fran Vasquez, #11, #44 Atlanta Hawks trade: #5 Orlando does it to move up and get the guy they want the most(Brandon Roy). Atlanta does it, to get a big prospect(they liked Vasquez last year too) and then put them in a better position to get the PG that they want(drafting one at #5 is too high), while adding a 2nd rounder. Orlando drafts Brandon Roy with the #5 overall pick. Orlando drafts Marco Killinsworth with the #41 pick Orlando drafts James White with the #50 pick Free Agency Orlando resigns Trevor Ariza for a 3 year deal for $6-7 million. Orlando Trades Pat Garrity.... Orlando Recieves a turkey sandwich The Final Result PG-Jameer Nelson, Carlos Arroyo, Keyon Dooling SG-Brandon Roy, Keyon Dooling, James White SF-Hedo Turkoglu, Grant Hill(for about 50 games), Trevor Ariza, James White PF-Dwight Howard, Marco Killinsworth C-Darko Milicic, Tony Battie Analysis PG- Jameer Nelson will be the starter obviously. Arroyo will come in to set the table and Keyon Dooling is our emergency PG. SG- Brandon Roy is the perfect player for our team, he does everything well. Keyon Dooling will come in for energy and defense in the bench and James White is a flat out athletic freak. SF- Hedo Turkoglu is very underrated, he can score at will. His defense is improving a little too. Grant Hill does everything, just like Brandon Roy, I would play him 20 mins max no matter what to perserve him for his 1st playoff run on the Magic. Trevor Ariza is the defensive guy to put into the game. He's got long arms and gets a lot of steals and forces a lot of turnovers. If he can develop a jump shot he will be a very good player. James White is an athletic freak. PF- Dwight Howard is going to be an all-star this year and Marco Killinsworth would be a great offensive player off the bench, he has good midrange range and he's got nice moves downlow. C- Darko Milicic will be the best defensive big that we have and if he can find his stroke from midrange, he will be a perfect complement to Dwight. Tony Battie is the glue and energy off the bench. ---------------------------------------------------------- Now that I am done dreaming, here is realistic option A: Draft Orlando Trades: Deshawn Stevenson, #11, #44 Houston Trades: #8 Orlando does this to move up and ensure we get our man. Houston does this because Deshawn Stevenson has said he wanted to play for the Rockets and is good friends with Tmac and they get an additional pick for this. Orlando drafts: Rodney Carney at #8 overall Orlando drafts: Paul Davis at #41 overall Orlando drafts: Allan Ray at #50 overall Free Agency Orlando resigns Trevor Ariza for 3 years $6-7 million Orlando Trades: Pat Garrity........ Arroyo will come in to set the table and Keyon Dooling is our emergency PG. SG- Ronnie Brewer is a playmaker. He doesn't have much of a shot, but he is a great creater in getting everyone involved and plays good defense. Deshawn Stevenson would move back to the bench and give great energy/defense off the bench. Allan Ray will be the Eddie House type-instant offense off the bench. SF- Hedo Turkoglu is very underrated, he can score at will. His defense is improving a little too. Send Sun Yue to continue to play overseas then sign him for the 07-08 season, when we get Fran Vasquez too.
This is my idea of what would be a perfect offseason for the Magic. 1) First, we re-sign Trevor Ariza to a three year contract at a little more than what he is making right now. He is going to be an important key to our success in the future because as his offensive game becomes more polished, he will become a solid all around wing player. I think Ariza fits in with the rest of our young core and instead of desperately searching for a wing player, give Ariza a shot. He has a lot of potential and that is really what our team is right now; a bunch of young guys with loads of potential. Even if he can't start for our team, he will be useful off the bench as our sixth man. 2) Trade our #11 pick, the rights to Fran Vazquez, and our #50 pick to the Timberwolves for the #6 pick and the #57 pick. With the #11 pick, we select SG Brandon Roy from Washington. A lot of people are saying he won't drop to our pick so we need to move up for him. If we can't move up or he is selected before our pick, I would take one of the following players: Rodney Carney, Ronnie Brewer, or Mardy Collins. Last season, we needed a shooting guard who was starting material. This season, that position is even weaker because DeShawn Stevenson has decided to be greedy and leave us. We already have a great young front court and a three headed monster at point guard (Jameer, Arroyo, and Dooling) so right now, we need to focus on our wing players. In a league where the wing players are the stars and franchise players (LeBron, Wade, Kobe, McGrady, Carmelo), it is an important position we need to fill through this draft. All of the above players have a chance to fill our needs and we need to go after one of them, preferably Roy. 3) With our second round picks, we need to select players that can come off the bench and make a difference for us. With the #41 pick, we select Villanova SG Allan Ray. He is a great three point shooter and he can spread the floor and score off of the bench like JJ Redick would have it we selected him in the lottery. Ray is also a great ball handler and the only reason his stock is slipping is his size. If Ray is coming off the bench with Keyon Dooling, Dooling's size at the point guard position would make up for Ray being an undersized shooting guard. With our next second round pick (#44), we should select Marco Killingsworth. This guy may have to switch to the SF position in the NBA but in college he was a great offensive weapon and he was able to score over larger defenders on a nightly basis. I think he could provide a spark off the bench at either forward position. He seems like a second round steal and I wouldn't mind taking a shot at him. With our final pick (#57 from the Timberwolves), we select Ryan Hollins a seven footer from UCLA. He can play both the PF and C positions and is an athletic freak of nature. He can score inside and he seems like the perfect player to come off the bench alongside Tony Battie. That would be my perfect draft and would fill all of our needs. 4) Don't make any free agent signings. We need to save our cap money for 2007 when all the big name players come off the books. Sure, there are some decent players in this offseason free agency market, but 2007 is where it's at. It is arguably the best free agent pool of all time and tons of superstars will be looking for new homes. If we have the most money to spend when all those great players and searching for a team, we won't regret passing up someone like Jared Jeffries this summer. If we hold off, it will be well worth it later on. That would be my perfect offseason and would give us a very good roster. PG- Jameer Nelson | Carlos Arroyo | Keyon Dooling SG- Brandon Roy | Allan Ray | Grant Hill SF- Hedo Turkoglu | Grant Hill (If healthy) | Trevor Ariza PF- Dwight Howard | Ryan Hollins | Marco Killingsworth C- Darko Milicic | Tony Battie | Ryan Hollins That is a very talented lineup that has a lot of depth and we would be set for the future. Make it happen Otis!

They need to win now if they want to keep KG, so why would they trade down 5 spots in exchange for a foreign player that might not come to the NBA and to move up 7 spots in the 2nd?
Another thing that I would consider is trying to package our 41 and 44 picks(assuming we don't trade any of our picks) to move up to the beginning of the 2nd round and get Mike Gansey, then draft like Paul Davis or Ryan Hollins or Marco Killinsworth or Nick Fazekas with the 50th pick.
Draft If at 11: JJ* or Carney or SWilliams or Brewer (I am keeping a wide range of people so I am not disapointed) 41 and 44: Allen Ray* or Killinsworth* or Gansey or Adams or Batista (2 would be nice of any of them). 50 I think is gone for next year since we have that option to use it next year instead it was given to the Bobcats. Re-Signs Ariza is a must 3 year deal like Swish stated. Bo for 1 more year vet min. Trades S&T Deshawn for someone reported Housten maybe $4.1 Mill trade exception. PatG, Deiner find a home for them. Deiner is stuck behind two good points. PatG is old and injured plus rusty find maybe a sandwich or a lunchable. Let goes Augmen and Kusun Lineup Pg:Nelson, Arroyo, Deiner(If not traded) Sg:JJ, Dooling, Ray Sf:Turk, Ariza, Hill Pf:Howard, Killinsworth, Outlaw C: Darko, Battie, Open for BoomjayBoomjoy.
Almost all of us have the Magic selecting Marco Killingsworth in the second round. Apparently, he showed up to the Orlando Pre-Draft Camp 10 pounds overweight and despite playing decent in the games, his motivation and seriousness towards staying in shape was at question.
I don't like Killingsworth but I saw a lot of Paul Davis. I do like him. He seems to be a bit under-rated. Maybe because of his play in his senior year, but he has the tools to be a backup center for the Magic. I'd love that pick.
Your analysis of the offseason is very good guys... I just got back from Vegas and was hyped to hear what everyone is saying. I think the draft is a good way for us to pick up cheap talent and keep us low in the salary cap for next year. We might as well trade our low second rounders to either move up package them with a player for a vet. I wish I could go in to further detail but I haven't had a chance to keep up with the pre-draft camp. Hope we make some good moves this off-season... And keep up the good work guys...
