hudson and jaric for hughes doesn't sound that bad, but the cavs might be able to get more for larry elsewhere
I told Cavs fans from day one that they'll be shopping him next off-season. He can't stay healthy. I think it was a mistake signing him to such a big, long contract. I don't know if many teams will be interested in him, given his frail body.
^^ i would do jaric and just about anyone besides ricky (we need him to get ai more ) but yeah, i think larry would be great for us. with him and hassell on the perimeter, no one will ever score
I was never sold on hughes, the cavs have to decide if they want to give lebron a scotty pippen type partner or just surround him with decent role players instead, i'm not sure which would work better.
the cavs have shown this season that they dont really need hughes. he was injured pretty much half the season, and they were winning regardless. he also wasnt much of a factor in the playoffs, given limited minutes, yet the cavs took the pistons all the way to game 7. with that being said, the cavs dont really need larry, and i think a trade would be good for the franchise
is jaric a guy that you would like because i personally hate jaric. not that much as a player, but for what we gave up for him, cassell and a 1st round pick
Larry Hughes monster deal was knee jerk reaction to the Cavs not being able to sign Michael Redd last summer. I'm actually surprised they've given up on Hughes already. They knew coming into the deal, Hughes had issues with injuries, so they shouldn't have been surprised when he missed 20+ games this past season. Flip Murray was great down the stretch for the Cavs, and made some big shots when teams refused to let LeBron beat them. I guess the Cavs are comfortable giving Murray a long term deal and giving him a starting role. The Cavs also have to figure out what to do with Drew Gooden. I don't think Varejao is ready to step in and play an 82 game season. Gooden was solid for the Cavs, but he's going to get a better deal somewhere else. Maybe the Cavs can work out a sign and trade with him? How about swapping him for Al Harrington? Getting back to Larry Hughes, last summer not many teams pursued him. The only two teams willing to give him a monster deal was Washington and Cleveland, no one else was interested. Unless Cleveland is willing to take back one or two bad contracts, I don't see many teams interested in acquiring Hughes. If you look at some of the names in the rumor mill here's some players the Cavs might be able to get for Hughes. Kenyon Martin? Stephon Marbury? Steve Francis? Wally Szczerbiak? Expiring Contracts - Grant Hill? Jalen Rose? Eddie Jones? Austin Croshere & Jamaal Tinsley?
i think wally will be pretty hobbled for the rest of his career (knees). That is what i heard anyway. he wasnt even that sort of quick before, now he will be unmovable.
Larry Hughes for Jamaal Tinsley and someone would be the most beneficial deal considering the biggest weakness on this ballclub IMO is the PG spot Eric Snow is unreliable offensively and Damon Jones is unreliable defensively.
Or they could keep Hughes and have a starting backcourt of Hughes and Murray. Hughes can run the floor pretty well, and along with James running the floor, a point guard won't be that necessary. Eric Snow kinda sucks.
