Charlotte was owed a second-round pick from Sacramento as compensation for the trade last year which sent guard Jason Hart to the Kings. But the Magic had the first right to the Kings' pick as the result of a series of deals between the teams. By passing on it this year, Orlando will get Sacramento's second-round pick in 2007.</div>

I think this is still good for Magic. I mean doesnt Magic still have 2 2nd round picks? Plus why waste a pick on a player that prolly wouldnt be that good. Better to save it for next year, and for a better player.

There's been plenty of 2nd rounders that have turned out good. I don't really see how you can say that this years 2nd rounders are weaker than next years when we don't know what is going to happen next year (well you are implying it)

Yeah Magic still have thee #41 and #44 picks.

His name still is Zaur, but Zaza is the coolest nickname ever. I was so pissed off when we didn't protect him, but protected Andrew Declerq instead. Yet another mistake by the duo of John Gabriel and Johnny Davis.

I'm saying that I'd much rather save a 2nd round draft pick for next season, then draft an unneccesary player this year. Not only beacause of talent wise, but because there probably wouldn't be room for this player on the team so he would probably go straight to Injured Reserve.
The only reason i say talent wise, is because this year's draft has been considered a very weak draft by many many analysts. There's few player that have a all star future ahead of them.
So just to end my rap all up, I'd rather keep the draft pick for next year possibly getting a more talented player, saving it for when we actually need to fill a roster space, AND by next season, or in the very possible Deshawn Strevenson trade, that draft pick may come in handy.
BTW- Otis Smith had already stated about a month ago in an NBA.com transcript that they probably wouldnt keep the pick for my reasons exactly.

Well who knows, this could go down as the greatest draft in history, not likely but we just don't know. I've heard that the 2nd round is pretty good this year and there are a lot of interesting prospects there. We could have drafted someone like Sun Yue(or whatever his name is) or someone like that and let them play overseas for a year or two to develop their game more. So it's not like we have to have them come in right away and play.

I agree with you though, I'm glad we got rid of the pick, because we only have 3 open spots right now and with 3 picks that would be the best. I was just playing devil's advocate.

They have seem to have done their homework. Theres only 2 guys they want in the second round or they are gonna use one as trade bait. The plan will unfold on draft day.
