Hey what do you guys think about signing this guy as an UDFA this offseason. He is a guy who is 7ft 1 and has a good jump shot all the way out to the three point line and has decent handles. He supposedly got fat in Canada and lost his quickness but now he is once again thinner and more ready to play. If he gains some strength this off season he could become a shooting four for us like our version of matt bonner or even more like Keith Van Horn type of guy. Who do you guys feel about signing this guy for training camp or something? Plus this guy is gonna be real cheap probably the absolute minimum.
Never seen him play, but from your description I'm not impressed. If he got fat that tells me he might not have a good work ethic, and I'm sorry but I've never been a big fan of Keith Van Horn.
Actually he had a very good work ethic http://nbadraft.net/chiriaevstory.asp it says in there but his problem has been that the weight on pressed down his quickness so now he lost it again and is once agains quick. He should be able to put on another 20 pounds of solid muscle to band with Pfs though. If he has the atheletiscm described in their again he should be able guard pfs or be quite an offensive threat similar to andrea barganni. I don't know though. He not working out with teams so his stock won't rise and people won't see what he is like now until summer league. So i don't know but what do yall think of this idea.
Thats what we can use the NBDL for face the facts the likelihood of us winning the championship is beyond slim. If we stash him in the NBDL to gain experience he could be ready when our team is loaded an ready for that run. He could work on his jump shot their his ball handling his defence and be a great guy that we could use when he comes back.
Chriaev was just built on a hype machine. He played in the neighbouring town of mine and even though he wasn't a standout at 7-1, the fact that he was that tall in Canada and played point guard gave him a lot of publicity, all of which would later prove to be way blown out. In the Canadian High School ASG, Chiriaev won the MVP, but scored just 14 points and looked way out of position at point guard. He also was unwilling to go the post and had a mediocre post game. Now, if he wasn't much better than top Canadian talent, imagine how bad he'd have been if he had made it to the McDonald's ASG or something. At 7-1, he's soft and a terrible rebounder, and will definitely not be quick enough or have a strong enough handle to be a point guard. This is a guy who won't ever get into the NBA. I don't even know why there's a thread dedicated to him.

If I remember correctly, the fans were booing him when he received the MVP.
Yeah i saw that game too but people are saying after he lost that weight and fixed that hamstring he has regained great quickness to go alongwith a way better game now of course i don't know if dats true and obviously he isn't going to be playing pg sg sf in nba so pf so i mean he could have improved enough for us to see potential in him and use him in future
