News: Rex Grossman returned to action on Sunday November 13. Impact: (Mon. Nov 14, 2005) if kyle doesnt do well im hopein this guy comes out and does something because our passing game blows.
I dont think they should switch to grossman because whts working is orton right now. There are way too many questions on Grossman and shouldnt take the risk. Just bench him until orton screws up.
I agree with MM. Don't fix what ain't broken. As of now the Bears are winning with Orton at QB, and they shouldn't change that until there is good reason to do so.
ill make it easyer for you then if the bears dont get rex back in IF kyle starts messing up we will lose
Yeah, but realistically, Orton is playing some better now than at the beginning of the year. And he did have the "wind" game last week that made it nearly impossible to roll up any passing yards. I'm just saying I don't think the situation is as dire as it appears at a glance.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Chicago is 30th in passing yards per game, If that isnt broke, i dont know what is.</div> They're also fifth in rushing offense. The balance has to come in there somewhere..
Plus, out of all of the rookie QB's drafted before him, they haven't even have 6 winning games starting.
Grossman a step closer to returning More Inside The Bears By Larry Mayer November 17, 2005 LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Rex Grossman quarterbacked the Bears' scout team in 7-on-7 drills Thursday for the first time since breaking his left ankle Aug. 12 and hopes to be able to resume practicing full speed next week. The 2003 first-round draft pick from Florida is wearing a tall shoe that was custom made for him by Reebok. It's the same shoe worn by Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith, who sustained a similar injury in the 2004 season opener. Quarterback Rex Grossman joined the Bears as the 22nd pick in the 2003 draft. "I feel pretty strong, strong enough to not worry about it," Grossman said Thursday. "I'm glad it's my left ankle because most of my force goes on my right ankle. The other thing that's difficult now is to be able to plant on that left foot and get out of the pocket and drive." Grossman sustained his second major leg injury in as many seasons Aug. 12 in a preseason loss in St. Louis. His target date to return has always been the Bears' Nov. 27 game in Tampa. "That was my goal, to be able to play in that game," Grossman said. "I feel like I could play. I just may not be as effective as I want to be, but I could do it." Grossman, who missed the final 13 games of the 2004 season with a torn right ACL, wants to make sure that he's able to escape the pass rush before he returns to action. "Right now I could 'Bernie Kosar-it' and be fine," Grossman joked of the immobile former NFL quarterback. "I just don't want to be a sitting duck. I want to be able to protect myself and get out of the pocket." Bears coach Lovie Smith has not indicated when or if Grossman will play once he's been cleared to return. In starting the first nine games this season, rookie quarterback Kyle Orton has generally managed the offense and limited key mistakes. But the fourth-round pick ranks last in the NFL among 31 qualifiers with a 61.8 quarterback rating.
