<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Tyrus Thomas came across as shy and reserved Saturday when he and several other potential lottery picks for the June 28 NBA draft met with reporters at a resort. But earlier, during individual testing, Thomas was said to be off the charts with enthusiasm and athleticism. "He's a crazy athlete," Connecticut's Rudy Gay said. "He can do so many things." This no doubt will impress the Bulls, who are considering selecting Thomas with the No. 2 pick. Thomas, a 6-foot-9-inch power forward from LSU, and Gay, a 6-9 small forward, were striking with their running vertical leap, players said. "They really impressed everybody," Ronnie Brewer of Arkansas said. In interviews, Thomas had little to say, but he left no questions about his confidence. Asked about the ceiling for his potential, he said: "If I keep working hard, there's no limit. You can't limit yourself. If I tell you I can only reach a certain point, I'd be belittling myself." Last fall, Thomas was just about the only person who believed he could make it to the draft. He had missed his first college season as a medical redshirt and wasn't expected to flourish in his debut season. He ended up helping Louisiana State reach the Final Four. "A lot of critics didn't [think so] because they weren't in the gym," Thomas said. "They watched the games, but they don't watch the 9 and 10 o'clock workouts at night when you're in the gym by yourself, rebounding for yourself and going hard." LSU coach John Brady has expressed concern about the cultural and social shock awaiting Thomas wherever he goes because Thomas, 19, never has lived outside the Baton Rouge area. Thomas said his coach shouldn't worry. "I can handle myself wherever I go," he said.</div> Source
If you read this interview on draftexpress, Thomas was jerk to them. http://draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1336

I really hope the Bulls don?t take him he seems like he wouldn't take criticism well from Skiles.
Yeah, there's no doubt about it that Tyrus is a cocky and personally, i think the kid is in for a rude awakening. I think he's best suited at the three because he lacks the strength to play with his back to the basket and I only saw him do this limited times last season and he definitely did not impress me one bit. But considering he shot 66% from the free-throw line, i'm not so sure that he has an effective enough jump shot to play at the wing like he says...

Maybe they're brain washing him that DE isn't a good site or something, who knows. He's definitely in for a rude awakening but I think he'll be sucessful.
I dont know about him coming off a little protective, but I wouldnt say he's an ass. I"d be upset too if some site had me going from being the consensus #1 pick to #7 in a matter of seconds.

That would be great motivation, IMO. Either that or ask them why they dropped you.
Thomas does seem sketchy in most of his interviews. Everytime they ask him something he goes, " I can't really tell you" or some other bland excuse not to answer the question. I'm not sold on Thomas either, just because a player has a run in the tournament doesn't mean they are a top 5, or lottery pick. I know, I am a fan of Joakim Noah, but I expect him to continue his tournament performance into next season, and then head into the NBA. Meanwhile Tyrus Thomas just seems like a forward with a lot of athleticsm. He claims that LSU limited him to that, and that he can shoot and do other things. We'll see. Btw sick sig SP!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dallasdude:</div><div class="quote_post">He has Stromile Swift written all over him..He's going to wreck the franchise that picks him.</div> Damn thats so true.
Thomas, like Swift, has more "tools" than "skills",at this point....BUT..unlike Swift showed a good sense of when and how to use what he has,a nice rate of improvement, and great energy. Very much a tweener,he's a PF game in a SF body. A guy who's at most 220 will get bulldozed in the paint in the pros, though Thomas does have an ability to compensate with a quick leap for a block after yeilding position. I can see him maybe at SF,though, while I'd be okay if he's no 3 pt threat,he'd need to have more ballhandling. At SF his athletic talents could be deadly if he gets the rock in close. If youy want him to evolve to be your PF,you need some 15-20 lbs of beef added eventually and then you need to assume that takes away a bit of those freaky hops/quicks he's got now. There IS always SOME tradeoff when you have a guy muscle-up. There is a difference between probability and possibility, and here the deal is to project this player in 3-4 years. It gets back to him not being a sure bet to really add whatever,to adapt to an NBA role at the level you want from a top 5 pick, and yet there is a tease in that the possible outcome is very very high.

Unless you lived in a hole the past two years, Louisiana isn't in good shape. Because Tyrus is a punk, a cocky punk, (the team that picks him will have to except that) he is not happy between $3,617,100 and $1.967,400 (1st and 7th picks). So just give your boy a call and tell him to shut his big mouth before he slips farther. Yes, he is an ass.
He's got a chip on his shoulder which is a good thing. he just needs a good leader like Kidd to keep him in line.
