<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Should the Heat-Mavericks go to seven games, Mavs owner Mark Cuban is ''seriously kicking around the idea'' of giving away 1,400 tickets to the finale, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The gesture would be a "thank you" to the fans and would also be a measure to protect them from price gouging.

"What can be better than just giving them away for free?" Cuban asked Sunday before Game 2.

Cuban isn't going to give away every seat at American Airlines Center, just the approximately 1,400 tickets available to the general public. Season ticket-holders, NBA personnel, league sponsors and media take up the other 19,000 or so seats.

"Our season ticket-holders are taken care of, so that's the first priority," Cuban said. "There's not as many tickets for fans as I'd like, and we haven't come up with a good way to do it yet, other than a potential Game 7 and giving away tickets for free."

Instead of the tickets going to brokers or being sold on various Web sites for several times the face value, Cuban is considering a lottery system that requires winners to present their ID at the arena to receive their tickets. He added the team's corporate partners could defray part of the cost.

"We haven't been able to find a good solution and create a win-win [situation]," he said. "First, it has to go seven games. Second, it's kind of a thank you. If it does [go seven], it's the ultimate game of the season. It's the ultimate thank you." </div>

So does that mean the games at Dallas aren't sellout crowds?

That sucks. Its the finals and the Mavs can't even fill an arena. =(

Im pretty sure that the Mavs have had a string of consecutive home sellouts that stretches pretty far. Im guessing he is just saying this because chances are the series wont go 7

It's not because they can't sell out, it's probally because they havent sold the tickets yet for game 7 and game 6 is probally already sold out so they can't just take away the tickets from the people who have already bought the tickets and give them away for free, they have to do it at an event where there will actually be tickets available.
