I don't know if this is already a post, considering I can't view any new posts because my computer won't allow me to, but the Lakers are rumored to be trading Odom to Chicago for the #2 and #16 picks. I do NOT like this trade, the Lakers expect to get Brandon Roy and, I'm guessing, JJ Redick if he's available. NOT a good trade, a veteran that did well for us this year for two rookies who can just as well be BUSTS! The 2nd youngest team in the NBA gets even younger....

Did well for us? What are you talking about? Lamar Odom didn't start doing well for us until we were fairly into the second half of the season. He did nice in the playoffs, yes, but when it mattered the most...in game 7, where did he go? He isn't meant for the Triangle, nor is the Triangle meant for Lamar. I fully believe that given the right offense, Lamar can be a 20/10/6 player, but that's not our offense. This trade makes sense for both teams, I think.

For Chicago. They have enough youth as it is, they need some experience, and Lamar will give them that. They won't be getting the Los Angeles Lamar, they'll get the Miami Lamar. Their starting lineup will look something like this: Hinrich, Gordon, Lamar, Nocioni, and Chandler. That's one hell of a lineup, especially in the East. It also gives them Deng and Duhon off of the bench. They need veteran leadership, and that's something Lamar would bring to them.

For the Lakers, it's time to give up on the Lamar experience. Even if he's not traded, do you expect him to come into camp with confidence? His name has been constantly swirled around in rumors, if anything, he'll regress in his development. A player needs confidence to perform, the L.A. media isn't exactly giving him that. We would have the rights to Brandon Roy, the 16th, and the 26th pick. We could do some damage with that. Phil Jackson loves Brandon Roy's game, and the same could be said for Kobe Bryant. Phil thinks Roy is ideal for the triangle and he'd have Kobe grooming him for later, when Kobe's run is over. Imagine Roy and Bynum in the future? Monsterous. With the 16th pick, my money would be on Shannon Brown. The kid is an extremely explosive scorer, something the Lakers have needed for awhile now. He'd be perfect off of the bench for anywhere from 12-16 PPG a night. And with the 26th pick, we'd be able to gobble up Leon Powe, a player that impressed the Lakers a lot after his workout. With the MLE, we could then sign a solid big man...let's say Reggie Evans. Our starting lineup for the 2006/2007 season would be: Brandon Roy, Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton, Reggie Evans, Kwame Brown with Shannon Brown, Leon Powe, and Smush Parker off the bench. That is a vastly improved team over this year's team.

Again, if Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant are in love with Roy, it's worth a shot. We're obviously not getting far with Lamar Odom, things need to be changed and that's a perfect way to start changing.

One rumor has them sending Lamar Odom to Chicago in return for the rights to the #2 and #16 picks.

This trade might have to be consummated after the draft, when Chicago has cap space to take on a bigger contract. Moving Odom’s $40 million contract would give the Lakers room to explore the talented free agent class of 2007. This may be where the obvious Brandon Roy to Chicago at #2 smokescreen started from.</div>

WHAT? Lamar Odom is worth the two picks plus KIRK HINRICH! The Lakers are seriously getting ripped off in the deal. In Odom, you have a future MVP and perennial All-Star, trading him for a top 3 pick and a near-lottery pick is way underevaluating his value.

If Elton Brand was traded for just the number two pick, then Odom deserves to be traded for #2, #16, and at least one young stud.

If you think anything of my basketball knowledge, then you'd know not to take the above quote seriously.

No way In gods green hell do I want to see Odom leave. But if it will bring in a good young shooter like Hinrich and the 2nd and 16th pick, I will escort Odom to the nearest airport. Hinrich + Reddick + Roy= good deal.

Why does every Laker rumour have them robbing the Chicago Bulls of all their talent/picks?

The Lakers will not make any moves. If they do, it's going to be DeJavu all over again. I think we should let this young team develop. From what I saw this last post season, this young team looks promising. Forget all this talk about gettin picks and pipe dreaming about KG. He is overrated and getting old. The Lakes need to sign Banks and let this young team get better. Good coaching and youth wins, the Lakes have a good coach and a nice group of young talent. I'm tired of these trade talks being the "answer". Bynum, Jesus, Odom, Banks, Sasha, Ronny, Mihm, Brown are the future. A nice group of size quickness and youth. Kuptchak and Buss can go f@&k themselves.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised to see Bynum shipped to the Bulls for Roy, straight up. Phil Jackson isn't a big fan of Bynum, from what a lot of people report on the radio out here in SoCal.

I am not either. I don't really see what Buss sees in him.

Personally, I don't either. I'd rather have Roy than Bynum, so if that offers on the table, I'd do it.

Why would anyone trade Brandon Roy for Andrew Bynum?

You would still be ripping the Bulls for #2 and #16, even though this is one of the most realistic trade offers that you all have posted so far.
