<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ust the news that Toronto Raptors fans have been waiting to hear: it appears Chris Bosh will sign a lucrative contract extension with the team.

According to a report in the Denver Post, Bosh will sign the extension on July 12, the day he is eligible to sign a six-year extension.

"I can't wait to sign it," Bosh told the Post. "I know where I'll be. If I didn't, I would have to answer all those free-agent questions.

"I love Toronto," Bosh told the paper. "The people are nice. The city is nice. If we win, we can sell out every night. It's a work in progress. You hear that Toronto people have backed away. But people will respect the players and the franchise."</div>

I hope Bosh will take a bit of a paycut, just so we can surround him with awesome talent. Otherwise it will be hard to keep CV31, and our #1 draft pick when their rookie contracts expire.

It's definitely a good thing though that Bosh wants to stay with T.O.

I'm not talking about a pay cut on his rookie contract, even though its still a huge amount of money.

I'm saying instead of a max contract, maybe take a few mill off so we can spend those extra mill on important pieces to put around him.

ragardless if we are over the cap when it comes time to resign CV31 and our #1 pick this year we would still be able to sign them to contracts even if it puts us over the cap because we have their bird rights. So lets just hope Larry Tanenbaum is willing to open up his wallet.

where it would limit us is in signing free agents.

The Raps are willing to spend money except not over the Luxury tax.. which around around 60 to 70 million.. it changes every year so there's no set. So yeah Toronto has a lot of money to spend..

see I don't think Raptors management will spend into the luxury tax.

So if we make a big signing for a center @ 8-10 mill.
    and Bosh @ 12
    Villeneuva @ 8
    #1 pick @ 7-12 mill
Mo Pete probably will get 6-8 mill

Thats 41-50 mill, for 5 guys, so if we get a solid bench too we probably would be well into the luxury tax.

However if Bosh took a paycut, it would be a great example, and when signing further players. People who sign on with the team probably would be more willing to take a paycut too.

Anyway its just an idea. I think that the game is more about the entire team and not just overspending on a few players.

'Cuz Canada kicks ass. It only took Bosh a couple of seasons to realize that.

Give Bosh the Max.. the probability of the salary cap/luxury taxes rising are high.. So they could spend more money.
