    Bailout

Lets flash forward (pun intended) to last nights game, where Dwayne Wade was showcasing his amazing talent. Before last nights game, the NBA was still searching for their Heir to the Throne. Kobe no longer gets mentioned, because he's the most hated man in sports not juicing, and LBJ didnt advance far enough to continue to market him. Enter Wade.

A 40 plus point scoring night can be something of legend, unless of course, the soon-to-be legend's team loses the game. But, the NBA had a golden opportunity last night to begin laying down the foundation of their newest "Greatest Ever", but before they could lay the cement, they had to mix it. Dwayne Wade drives to the hoop, hurls an ugly scoop shot that would have given the Heat the lead, and misses. But the refs bail him out, calling a Phantom Foul which neither the ABC commentators or the ESPN analysts could see, and send Wade to the line where he could give the Heat the lead. Then, the refs intercepted a message from a coach to his player, and signaled for the Mavericks final Timeout in between free throws, there by preventing the advancement of the ball to half court, and eliminating an opportunity for the Mavs to get a good last second look at the hoop.

According to the ref who called the timeout, Josh Howard asked him twice for the timeout. But, upon further review of the game tape, Howard never once made a motion to the referee, rather, he was having a conversation with coach Avery Johnson, who ordered Howard to call a timeout after the second free throw. Howard made the timeout signal in order to confirm what his coach was saying, but he never, not once, made that request to the referee. The ref made the call because he assumed they were going to call a timeout. Eitherway, the contact-less foul, and assumed timeout paved the way for Miami game 5 victory.

Theres clearly contact, no phantom foul. And you obviously didn't review the tape at all because Howard asked at least once for a timeout right under the rim. The Mavs had several opportunities to win the game but they didn't, maybe they got screwed by the refs a few times but every team does so get over it.

I'm sorry that another player is rising up and perhaps surpassing the level of your favorite player, your feeble attempts to discredit Wade won't stop everyone else from seeing how good he really is.

Wow, why do poeple have do develop these conspiracy theories about Wade and that foul If you have eyes you can clearly see it's a foul. NO phantom fouls no nothing. Howard clearly called for a timeout and it was the right call. The league had nothing to do with the outcome so dont talk about any conspiracy theories.

    Lame!

Any conspiracy theories of the League using the referees to fix games make no sense, because there's no way the refs and the NBA would cooperate to such an extent. Stern's had a notoriously bad relationship with the refs, especially during labour negotiations, and it just seems unfeasable. So just sit back and admire the game, Wade-hater.

I counted three different fouls. One was the block by Harris sticking his knee out to impede Wade's progress, 2nd was Dirk's hand on Wade's back, and third was Harris briefly grabbing Wade's arm. BTW Hubie agreed with the call. Even Avery admitted Josh called the time-out, he was just pissed that it couldn't be relayed (which I agree with). Anyway, what are the chances they're going to convert with 1.8 left anyway, regardless if they're in the frontcourt? Not good.

Kobe gets more superstar calls than anyone, so quit whining. The only reason I can see this thread being in the Laker forum is you're jealous that Wade is surpassing Kobe. You seem to be easily forgetting the controversial sequences that lead to Kobe's game winner. Wade's free-throws are far more legit than Kobe's game-winner.

    BREAKING NEWS!!!

    THERE'S A NEW CONSPIRACY

Apparently the NBA, David Stern, and Stu Jackson hate Kobe Bryant. Why you ask? Because he cut off the afro??? In an unreleased document printed by NBA officials, one can see the NBA's new conspiracy to make Dwayne Wade THE next Michael Jordan, because Bryant has refused to cooperate with league officials who want him to grow back....... "the fro." When trying to question Stu Jackson, he refused comment, but David Stern did release this bold statement.

"Yes the afro symbolized freedom, loyalty, and in some forms superiority. If Kobe refuses to grow back............"the fro", then I'm afraid he can no longer be our poster boy."

Stay tuned to your t.v. sets for new information leaking out on................"the fro conspiracy"

If your going to make a lame thread like this, at least use facts. BTW, what does the timeout call have to Wade anyway? I think your just angry, because Wade might do something that Kobe never did, which is win a finals MVP.

The foul was called on Dirk, not Harris. I'm assuming the foul was because Dirk had his hand on Wade's back, from watching the replay, in my opinion, there was no evidence that Dirk's hand shoved Wade enough to cause him to miss the shot. Especially considering that Wade drove against 3 ppl, flipped up a circus shot. No way should you get a bail out call like that because of Dirk's hand on your back, not in a pivotal game in the NBA finals. Now, had the foul been called on Harris, that would've been a different story.

I don't think there's a conspiracy, but it sure seems to me that the ref(s) totally missed the foul on Harris, but regardless of that, called an imaginary foul on Dirk that never happened. I had picked Miami to win so I was rooting for them. But after what happened last night I almost wish the Mavs would win game 6.

Regardless of who the foul was called on wade was still fouled, the fact that nowitsky got called instead of howard did not affect the game.

I knew there was a mistake somewhere.. I couldnt pinpoint it because the miami fans were screaming in my ears at the gym we were all at... lol. It was a great game, but I did think it was a phantom call on Dirk. I didnt see him touch Wade at all. Now the foul by Harris, thats clear as day! WHOA!

Miami still has to win in Dallas. Lets find out whos better!~

Just like Terry was fouled at the end of regulation. They didn't call that, they shouldn't call this. You just don't call ticky tack fouls in that situation.

Not to be a "Heat Hater" (which I think is the new thing) but if they called that foul on D Wade, they should have called a for JT when he shot it over 3 players and it's somewhat visible that he got hit by one of them. Contrarily, D-Wade drives, AVOIDS the contact (I believe) and does a scoop shot....and they call the foul on someone who didn't even really touch him?! It would have made sense if they called it on Harris, but the ref who made the call WAS NEAR MIDCOURT when he made it, so naturally he called a foul cuz he saw Wade being hounded by 3 defenders.

Great game but I hate it when free throws decide games.

I don't know about the Josh Howard thing.

By the way, Wade is single handedly the best player in this league right now.
    Shaq who?
This is Wade's team all the way through, I'm starting to believe that Wade could lead this team and make them win even without him. Did anyone see that 4th quarter and the number of times he bailed them out with clutch shot after clutch shot??? [IMG]

I have to say, from all of the games of Wade I have seen, he has been clutch in almost every one of them. I'm beggnining to believe that Wade is more so of a clutch player then anyone else in this league (again, my opinion, not a fact so chill out Kobe lovers).

Great game, bad finish. It'll feel nice to see Wade win the Finals MVP with Shaq watching on since he cant boast as much anymore with the current numbers he's putting up. Regardless, I really hope the Mavs win Game 6 (and 7 too obviously) cause I DO NOT want to see Alonzo Mourning or Antoine Walker getting a ring.

If Zo didn't go through the kidney thing, he would be one of the most hated players in the league. I also don't want to see him get a ring.

Avery Johnson kept his cool, but it seemed he was about to explode at the press conference.
