Okay check this out: some company devised this device that plays this high pitched, high frequency sound that only kids can hear. (As time goes by, adults lose their hearing, starting at the higher frequencies.) It's meant to be a kid repellent. You know, make kids go home instead of loitering at public places. Well, some kids recorded this sound and they realized, "hey, we could make this into a ringtone for school so we can leave our cellphones on during class and the teacher will never know!" Pretty clever idea. And apparently it works. Anyways, I found the "Teen Buzz" soundbyte so I could check it out for myself. I can't hear it. Check it out for yourself and see if you can.
That sound is so suttle that not even the kids would notice it went off. I could barely hear it and the sound starts to hurt my ears after about 5 seconds.
I could hear it. I don't understand the difference between this ringtone and just putting the phone on vibrate. Both ways you will know it's ringing, but a teacher/adult won't. It's a pretty cool idea though.
I can hear it but if i was in class i would never notice it. And as for vibrate, that wouldnt work for my phone because mine vibrates fairly loud...
Someone at work had it on their computer and asked me if i could hear it. I did...and its annoying. I'm 23...
ANNOYING! Man that thing hurt my ears. I'm 16 I can barely hear it, I probably blow out my ears earlier in life with music
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TimmyDMVP:</div><div class="quote_post">i cant hear it at all and im 21 i guess im going deaf lol</div>The article does say that most people over 20 can't hear it. I can't hear it either.
I'm 14 and I can hear it. My little brother heard it too but my parents didn't. When I asked my dad, he was like, "play it again." I'm like uhh, it's still going.
