No way. Allen has about 60 million dollars left on his contract and we are already going to sign Bosh to a max contract, plus we give up a potential 20/10 player in Villanueva. Horrible trade idea.
The deal makes sense, it would turn the Raptors into a contender but I don't think that they would be willilng to do it. Like Bobcats said, Allen just has a ton of money left on his contract that I don't think the Raptors will be willing to pay off. The worst case would be that it really wouldn't improve them into a playoff team. After all, Seattle has a better supporting cast around Allen and Ridnour and they still didn't makke the playoffs. What makes the Raptors think that this will turn them into contenders. I do belive that the Raptors will trade the pick, but I don't think they'll be willing to move all the way down to #10. They will move down far enough so that they can grab either Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay, not happening at 10.
Well.. if the Raptors don't give up Charlie, i'm fine with that..but dunno what they could give after that.. maybe Mike James in a sign and trade.. along with Williams who is a good backup SF if he actually plays some quality minutes night in and night out. Throw in another player like Calderon or Mo Pete or even possibly a future first. in 2008 with a Lotto Protect. Yes, Allen's contract would take up a lot of money but he's one of the best shooters if not the best shooter in the NBA right now and players don't lose their shooting touch as they get older. While Luke and the #10 also are promising..
If the Raps owners can afford it, it's good move to make if the Raps just want to see the playoffs. I mean with Allen at shooting guard, a pure point guard, and Chris Bosh at PF, it seems like a talented offensive combo on paper. Plus, if you throw in Magloire as a sign and trade FA, the talent up front is definitely covered. If the Raps got one threat in the backcourt and another in the frontcourt, it should be pretty solid offensively.
I'm more in favour of slowly finding the pieces to complement Bosh than the total upheaval that this trade would bring. I know Miami just won a championship with that approach, but, generally, I find that it gives you a much smaller window to achieve success.

He would eat the cap and I just don't think he would be worth it. We wouldn't go far with a BOSH/ALLEN team and we wouldn't have any room to grow added his salary to our cap.
doug smith is a joke; i remember him comparing joey graham's skills to vince carter's. interestingly, he prefixed the rumour with "i think"- to whick i say "no way".
am I the only one who doesn't see this as a rumour but just doug spitballing to eat up some column space? I woulden't ind seeing this if we can retain charlie, but as Chutney said, I would like to build it up gradually and generate a good core for the raptors.
I didnt like how Miami won this year with how they bought their way in there...i mean, yes, wade and shaq did most of the work...but come on! i would like to see the raps keep their original guys - peterson, bosh, villa, graham and try to add a few pieces and get a contender that way...rather than the other way.
