Personally I think that they based it on last years performance because they have to start making the cover and all so this years performance will have an effect on next years game. Tmac was the best option last year. Lebron didn't make playoffs Dwayne Wade injured himself causing his team to lose(not his fault but it happens) Kobe didn't make playoffs Kevin Garnett didn't make playoffs TMAC had an amazing playoff, but sadly got blown out. HE did an amazing job raising our hopes last season. Other candidates to put on the cover include Amare Stoudemire, Gilbert Arenas, and Ben Wallace, BUT none of them is as marketable as Tmac b/c of his popularity in CHina and elsewhere.
The only reason EA picks players is so they can sell and some of it has to do with popularity and how good the player is. I don't think they really look at a bad season because of health because they had mcgrady planned a year before so they couldnt pick lebron just to change everything. I bet the game starts off with tmac on the menu(practice). Stuff like that they didnt maybe want to change, but it will still sell, both here and china. Now that tmac got one Kobe or Yao should be on one soon. Especially kobe he deserves it over all hes done.
I could of sworn I heard Kobe was going to be on the front. Oh well go Tmac.Is this for PS3 or PS2???

i would rather see tmac on the cover than lebron, considering the past cover athlete's has been guards or combo guard/forward, they never put a center or power forward on the cover, i don't think yao will get on the cover for a few years

i like that t-mac is on the cover, i think they take t-mac because in china the people like him very much and there the people looovvve the rockets and in the USA too....call it a: 2 states selling off LOLOL i think they don't view at his stats or somethin like that...the nba live company just want moneyyy and i think thats the reason why they take t-mac
