Everyday I see a new thread comparing two player or saying this player is better then that player. WHO CARES???? Basket ball isnt about who the best PLAYER is its about the team. I wish peopl e would just give credit to the players for being outstanding and stop comparing them. You cant win a title on your own it takes a team effort, and while one player may stand out, if he is alone on the court he will not win games. How do you feel about these types of threads?

I understand what you're saying, but I love debating in the "who's better" threads". It's not a pointless question. Teams are made up of individuals, and a part of the game is contructing the team in such a way as to yield the best results.

So while "who's better" outside a team context is sort of a nebulous concept, it's possible to ground the question into something very concrete and extremely important -- "which of these players will help my team more?".

To deal with the more more abstract question of who's better, in general, I ask which players will help some team win the most, not knowing in advance how that team might be constructed. In other words, which player(s) give the best chance of winning in the most team situations. Perhaps this isn't the most practical of questions, but for me (and I think most sports fans) it's fun to think about and discuss.

I agree with durvasa, it's fun to discuss...plus it gives a chance for all the "kobe haters" to unite.

I agree...there's just too many freakin threads goin on about who's better than who. I understand we don't have much else to talk about, especially since the season is over but there comes a point where it's just too much. I count atleast 3 kobe vs wade threads have been started ever since the final buzzer of game 6.
