<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The hottest rumour concerning the Raptors right now is not which player general manager Bryan Colangelo will draft with the No.1 overall pick on July 28. Rather, it's a possible deal brewing between the Raptors and the Charlotte Bobcats, which would involve a swap of veteran point guards, Alvin Williams for Brevin Knight, with Toronto also giving up the No.1 pick for Charlotte's No. 3 overall in the draft. Williams, 31, has played very little the past two seasons after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee in November 2004. There is no guarantee he'll play again, although his agent, Bill Strickland, told the Toronto Sun yesterday that Williams will be ready to play when the 2006-07 NBA season begins next fall. Williams told reporters late this past season that he was ready to play, but coach Sam Mitchell was not convinced. The possible deal between Toronto and Charlotte would make some sense if the Raptors are intent on drafting Italian forward Andrea Bargnani, as reports have suggested. The European star likely still would be available to the Raptors if they held the No. 3 pick. Strickland would not comment on the trade rumour yesterday, but he did not shoot it down either. </div> Source This is one of the better trades for the Raptors without taking on much risk. Brevin Knight solves the PG problem immediately, and Toronto still gets their man at #3, whether it's Aldridge or Bargnani. Brevin Knight has a lot of trade value as well. A lot of teams pursued him prior to the trade deadline last season.
I would do this in a flash, Brevin Knight is a great contributor and you don't lose much in going down to 3.
Raptors just found their messiah in Bryan Colanglo. If this deal goes through, then Charlotte is moving up to draft either Morrison or Aldridge. Most likely aldridge because chicago will take the Texas Forward.

They already have a lot of frontcourt depth with Brezec, Okafor, May, and possibly re-signing Melvin Ely. The Bobcats like Morrison, Gay, and Roy, they might even go Tyrus Thomas. If the Bobcats wanted Roy or Gay they could probably stand pat at #3 and land either one. My guess is they want Morrison or Thomas.
The Rasho deal, makes it look like they are going to pull off this trade with the Cats.. however, Colangelo's trades haven't been leaked once. Two trades now and nobody has heard of it.
Word on the street is that Bickerstaff is pushing reaaaally hard for Morrison. I'd do that trade in a hurry.

The Hoffa trade was very unexpected and according to Colangelo yesterday, the Bonner deal was in the works for a month and was agreed to a week ago, and no one found out until a few hours before it was announced. If there's a trade of picks, it won't be known until draft day.
This opens up some interesting possibilities. Morrison at #1 would be definite if the Cats trade up, I'll then have to go Bargnani or Tyrus at #2 and then Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy to you guys at #3. It would be a huge question going in though, should clear up by draft day...
Is it just me, or does anyone else I believe we can get a better deal? The Bobcats deal is still a good deal, but I feel we can get a better deal with the 1st pick, as does Colangelo from other comments I've read.
I love the fact that Brevin's a pass first point guard we've been looking for but is he the point guard we want if we want to play the up-tempo style we played last season? I too think we can get a better deal than this but I wouldn't be too upset if this went through. Hopefully this deal is a ploy to drum up interest and demand from other teams.
better deal? we get a quality starting past first PG AND we get rid of Alvins contract...all for the low low price of moving down the draft only 2 spots! If this is a possiblity, i'd jump on it in a heart beat
