A KG trade has to factor in that KG's contract is $20 mill plus-escalating to $24 mill..plus. Cap-o-nomics says we need to send contracts...Minny will say...yeah and not just the bad ones and we duct-taped Troy Hudson and his deal to KG..so factor that. Now its about a $26 mill package. We will need AT LEAST FOYLE or DUN to go..We can't carry KG-Baron-J Rich plus pay a zillion to subs.

Then there's ...We were not a whole lot better than Minny. If KG is saying Trade ME..he is not saying to a team in the bottom 10 with a sucky coach.
All we'd have is the Winters here are much milder....

And----KG is now an over-30 guy. We need to keep in mind the Window of opportunity. If we pay a lot,can we go all the way before he's fading?

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting vcwannabe15:</div><div class="quote_post">If we do trade for Kg I hope we don't give up J-Rich, he's a superstar in the making.</div>

If he ever shoots free throws yeah. 68% is embarassing for a guard, but then again he's not really a guard. He also fell away from his midrange game slightly. He ended up taking more shots from downtown than he got to the foul line and that's not really what good players do. But I've seen him make more than anyone else off the dribble.

I already like his handle improving and his floor awareness, but his decision making, his clown feet, and some of his passing technique is a turnover waiting to happen. Can't complain though. Who else on the W's roster is as complete? Dunleavy can't even post up the way Jrich does unless we want to see a post-up airball hookshot over a 6'2 player fall short like he's regularly shooting a wide open jumper. Then let's not talk about Pietrus...

I like Jrich, but we need a guy to play the paint rather than another guard to take away shots from him. That's why I'm kind of hoping for Baron Davis to be the point guard to take shots within the flow and direct offense rather than the kind that holds onto the ball and hoists it without telling the other guys what to do.

We should give the Wolves like 8 players for KG -- they'd be getting such a value deal!

Dunleavy, Murphy, Pietrus, Fisher, Foyle, Cheaney, Zarko, Taft

    for

    KG
    ----------------------------------

    starting lineup:

    PG -- Baron Davis

    SG -- Jason Richardson

    F/PF/C -- KG

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CohanHater:</div><div class="quote_post">Custodian, Who was the person who brought up the Baron trade before it happened?</div>
I had mentioned it a few times as part of my series of "the only way the Warriors will trade for a superstar is if he's coming from a worse team than them" line of posts, circa late 2004-early 2005.

I made this one about a week before the Baron deal:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If they don't keep the pick:

This is actually what I think is most likely to happen. If the Warriors don't like Felton and don't think they can get Paul, I see them moving the pick. And it just so happens that I can throw out a completely foundationless, though utterly possible trade scenario. Here it goes:

W's send the #1, Najera, Fisher, and either Dunleavy or Pietrus to the Hornets for Baron Davis.

Why the Hornets do it: Dickau has emerged as a promising young pg, but the team doesn't have a whole lot of young talent to build around. With Pietrus or Dunleavy, the W's #1, and their own #1, the Hornets could remake their entire roster in one off season. They don't have many long term contracts, so taking on Fisher and Najera's contracts won't be a big issue.

Why the Warriors do it: If they can't get their future pg through the draft, acquiring Davis would be a great second option. The last three years have been a nightmare for Davis as far as injuries are concerned, but before that he didn't miss a game in three years. It's a gamble, but a calculated one. And even if Davis gets injured, Claxston will still be on the team and Dunleavy (if he isn't part of the trade) can also fill in at pg.

The only other concern is his salary, he'll make 12 mil next year and he's signed through '08, when he makes 16 mil. But Fisher and Najera combine for nearly 10 mil next year and will make over 11 mil in '08, plus Fisher is signed through '10, so taking on Davis' salary isn't that big of a deal. </div>

btw, I love re-reading draft predictions a year or two later. Some things make you look prophetic and others make you look like the biggest moron in the world (like my own bold prediction that Ryan Leaf would eventually be a better quarterback than Peyton Manning...it seemed so reasonable back then...), but they're always fun to read.
