What happened to Alexander Johnson? Just last week I was reading about how he impressed alot of people during his workouts, and that the Bulls might possibly pass up Thomas/Aldridge, and snag Johnson with the 16th pick to fill the void. Now all of a sudden, NBADraft.net has him mid second round. If I were an NBA owner with a mid-late first round pick, I would deffinitly take this kid. So whats going on here, did I miss something?

He was a good college player with his big body, but even in college he wasn't very good at catching the ball or passing. Athleticism doesn't mean much when you you can't produce. I think he'd be around a 2nd rounder(probably early to mid 2nd). I do wish he would have come back to school though. I think the extra year would have been good for him(although he is 23 already).
Johnson will be a solid player in the NBA, but he is still very raw and unpolished offensively and really could have used another year. The only problem would be that he is 23 years old. It would take a couple years to develop him and by the time he reaches his prime he might be on a different team. He is athletically gifted though with an 6-9, 225 pound frame which will turn on some scouts. As for Chicago passing up Aldridge or Tyrus to grab this guy at 16, it's possible. It's unlikely but it's possible. They're going to go with a power forward and a wing player it's just a matter of if they go power forward at 2 or 16. The problem is that the only wing player that would make sense for the Bulls at #2 would be Brandon Roy in my mind. Rudy Gay would be a possibility, but don't they already have a 6-9 small forward by the name Luol Deng?
