<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">They are one of the most active teams in trade talks at the moment. The team they put together didn't gel, and the Warriors need to make some serious changes.

It appears that Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy and the No. 9 are the assets they're looking to move. However, considering the big contracts of Dunleavy and Murphy, they may have to include a young prospect like Andris Biedrins or Mickael Pietrus.

One rumored deal has the Warriors swapping Dunleavy, Murphy and the No. 9 pick to the Lakers for Lamar Odom and Aaron McKie.

Another has the Warriors sending Pietrus, Murphy and the No. 9 to the Bulls for Tyson Chandler and the No. 16.

Utah could be another trading partner. A deal that would send Pietrus and Murphy to Utah for Carlos Boozer has been rumored since February. </div>

I really like the Carlos Boozer trade for the Warriors. This team needs some toughness in the post, and Boozer gives you that.

No Boozer. He's lazy and will be playing 10 games a year.

Check how many games Boozer has played in his NBA career. Boozer is injury prone, has a bad attitude and would be another big contract. We already have the same problems with Baron.

If you want a Boozer, then we might as well draft Shelden. Stronger, cheaper and better attitude. He's ready to play.

? What am I missing here?

His rookie year he played 81 games, and averaged 10 ppg and 7.5 rpg.

The year after, he played in 75 games and averaged 15.5 ppg and a whopping 11.4 rpg.

Sure he was limited in the 2 following years. But he still owned in 04 with 51 games played and 17.8 ppg and 9 rpg.

This last year he was injured and only played in 33 games, but still put up 16.3 ppg and 8.6 rpg.

Yeah he was limited the last two years due to injury but he was a friggin iron man his first 2 years in the league, and a solid bruiser at that. He nearly led the league in rebounds his second year. Further, the guy's scoring has gone up, and he could easily flirt with 20 ppg next year.

He doesn't strike me as the type of player who would rather sit out.

I'm not a big fan of the Boozer trade idea. What is it exactly that he can do that the Warriors don't think/hope Diogu can do?

Both are rebounders, interior scorers with a decent jumpshot, who are looked upon to provide toughness in the low post. Boozer may be a bit more of the classic enforcer, but I think Diogu has some Charles Oakley in him as well.

btw, this is more than a little off topic, but did anyone see that thing on the Warriors a month or two ago when they did a featurette on the vets taking the rookies clothes shopping? There wasn't anything especially memorable about it, except one thing. They said Diogu, at 6'8" and 250 lbs. had a 34" waist. Now I'm 6'4" and about 210, and in pretty good shape, and I have a 36" waist. That's like a real-life, badass basketball playing version of a barbie doll.

I readily admit the possibility of it being really weird that this facinates me enough to mention it on a message board, but I just find it freakish. Anyone else?

Boozer + Diogu = Good Post Offense

When Diogu has trouble with his height against other PF's/C Boozer would be very useful. I think a Boozer + Diogu combo is better than a Murphy + Diogu combo. Even though Murphy brings range, he's still a 43% FG guy.

AlleyOop, I agree, I feel the same way about Baron. He was a iron man also his first 3 seasons I think.

Actually for the numbers to work it would have to be fisher and murphy for boozer..... and i like that a lot better..... if they want fisher in any deal.... he is a throw in ..... toss him in and good riddance

can odom co-exist with baron..... It seems to me that the problem Odom is having with Kobe is that Odom needs the ball in his hands to truly be effective.

I don't like the Chicago trade at all. I don't want anything to do with Chandler.

I would take Boozer over Murph any day .....especially if it means moving fisher. EVen if Boozer only plays 10 games next year it is still worth it.

With the Hornets losing claxton to free agency. Maybe we can swing a deal to get j. smith here for fisher.

I'd have to agree with this, plus part of building a good team is responsible salary spending. Boozer is so overpaid for a guy that's been hurt quite a bit, limited in shotblocking and questionable on D. Plus, you think he still remembers the time Jrich bounced a ball of his head so he could pass to himself for a 3 pointer?

Not sure about the measurements, but $10 bucks says Diogu knows his own measurements better than the guy that said 34".

I think Boozer and Diogu are the same height. I mean they're really only about 6'8" with similar wingspan. Maybe Boozer is a bit stronger and a little more athletic, but I think Diogu is a bit better in the post.

Plus, if both Boozer and Diogu are injured for most of the season, I'll be pissed.

Secondly, do we really want Boozer's wife and all that greed in the bay area?

I really love this deal. Warriors can go big or small and upgrade their front court. Odom can play multiple positions and Baron will have someone to throw it down low to. Odom can pass, too. Definite upgrade at the SF position. Instead of McKie, I rather get the Lakers 2007 #1 pick.

    SF: Odom, Pietrus (re-signed)
    C: AB, Taft, Foyle
    PF: Ike, AB, Zarko
SG: JRich, Monta, Fish (hope we can include him in a trade, too)
    PG: Baron, Monta, Bynum

BTW I think Lakers would do it in real life if somehow they could get Brandon Roy in the deal. Let's say Roy is available at #4 Portland. We trade Ike for Roy at #4. Then we do the above deal and get Brian Cook or somebody + Lakers 2007 #1 draft pick.

Why would the Lakers want Dunleavy and Murphy? Are they trying to play no defense?

I'm sure Kobe would like even less offensive help than ever before.

Well..that sure takes the fun out of it. Ike-Murphy #9..we get Odum-Cook...nah. Some cap fill also needs to leave Portland, adding complications-plus Port has Zach still and unless they move him...

In the first deal...the big hidden factor...Phil J is 10x the coach Monty is and it would soon be apparent Murphy and Dun would be plaing their A game all the time. Odum would be outside waiting for Fish to share the ball.[IMG]

REREM, you've been beating a dead horse that Monty is the "#1 problem/#1 priority to get rid of" in every post you make, but let's not overrate PJ making Murphy/Dunleavy a good fit for Kobe Bryant's team. When our team doesn't score particularly well inside or play defense in transition, I'm not sure those were the best guys available to invest in, you know what I mean? I'm even so sure that the SF/PF depth of Zarko and Mickael Pietrus was going to solve that little problem back in midseason of '04-'05. If there's going to be some balance and honesty in the way defenders play us, we have to have some inside presence or some of the center or power forward involved with touches in the paint or passing the ball. It's a safe bet to say that both Murphy and Foyle dont' really have those strengths. And if we try to cater to their real strengths rather than what the team needs to operate correctly, we'll be playing the same way we do now, which is away from Baron and Jason Richardson's strengths.

Then let's not forget that center is the one position that makes all franchise teams a lot better (Center/Power Forward if guys like JO/Duncan, etc). Having a center or a power forward that can defend, rebound, provide defensive and offensive presence is a must have. You don't have to have Shaq, but a guy that can shut people down in the paint and at least score on second chance points opportunity at hit the easy shots. Too many holes in our defense, weakness, poor footwork and bad hands will never ever allow that to happen. Our defense in the paint might as well have a red carpet and our offense might as well be 4 on 5 (3 on 5 if Dunleavy doesn't show up and 1 on 5 if Baron/Fisher go hog wild on shot selection).

Also, even if we had Odom, Ike, Jrich, Baron, Biedrins on the same starting lineup, can anyone imagine how bad we'd be in free throw shooting. My goodness, if we can't play defense as well as the Spurs or the Pistons, we are so f-ed if teams decide to play us rough on purpose.

"So what if I sent Baron and Biedrins into the stands, is he going to make me pay for it at the line?"

Content with Murphy/Dunleavy/9th for Odom and something. It's not exactly sexy, but we can dump nearly 20 mils per year for Odom. It would be nice if we can get Lakers' pick and it's a lot of talent loss, but something must be done with our financial situation. So, I will take it.

Hate Chandler trade. We are actually increasing our payroll AND give up 9th pick for underachiver named Chandler, who gets 11 mils per year.

Also hate Boozer trade. I don't see exactly how Murphy for Boozer is an upgrade, not to mention we already have Diogu...

Completely agree. Besides what if Biedrins is essentially Tyson Chandler without the hype? Both are extremely athletic and do the same things on D. Chances are Biedrins could even be more with the right big man mentoring his low post game. That's another reason to boot Foyle. If I'm going with a mentor to make Biedrins the best center he can be, I'm going with better vet than Foyle to show him in practice.

I would be reluctant to take Odom because of his character (one reason the Clips were glad to be rid of him). I would take him from a talent/salary standpoint over Dunleavy and Murphy. Those two combined just aren't working defensively or offensively for the Warriors. Since we're getting a good versatile SF with excellent ballhandling/passing and we already have Ike Diogu (who some say can be ready) I'd rather take Odom/Ike lineup over Murphy/Dun.

I just worry about free throws. When teams find out you can't shoot them and you don't play defense, the tempo favors the other team to just keep attacking and rough it up in the paint on our guys.

You're right. For some reason, I thought Portland had cap since they're rebuilding. We can take an expiring contract like Voshon Leonard to make it work salary wise with Ike.

    Portland gets Ike, #9
Portland gives up #4 (Brandon Roy), Leonard

LA Lakers get Murph, Dun, Roy
LA Lakers give Odom, Bynum, 2007 1st rnd pick

GSW get Odom, Bynum, 2007 1st rnd pick, Leonard (expiring contract)
    GSW give Murph, Dun, #9

How about getting Odom and Bynum from the Lakers then? Some people are so fired up about getting Patrick O'Bryant, Cedric Simmons or even Saer Sene. Bynum could be just as good a project next to those guys and he's about their same age except he has some NBA experience. With Bynum, we'll have to move AB or Taft to the PF position.

So the deal in effect is Ike, Murphy, Dun AND Roy for Odom, Bynum and Lakers 2007 1st rnd pick. We shed some salary, get an upgrade at SF, a center project for the future and a 2007 draft pick.
