The move became official Wednesday during a meeting between the sides. "We concluded at this point that it was in both parties' best interest to part ways," said Ted Johnson, Wolves vice president of communications.

Mick Anselmo, who serves as the regional vice president of Clear Channel Radio for the Twin Cities, had pulled his offer to the Wolves off the table in April. "I had counted on [the split] a couple of months ago," he said. "I think the FAN got too big for them. They're looking for a low-cost provider. I wish them the best. They've been a good partner. I'm still a huge fan of that organization."

Said Johnson: "We'd like to thank KFAN for 17 great years. They've been a big part of our history, and it's unfortunate that we weren't able to reach an agreement that was mutually beneficial."

The Wolves are expected to announce a new radio partner in the coming days. BOB (106.1 FM), which started carrying the Lynx this season, has been speculated as a front-runner.</div>
