"I'll put this to bed,'' Paxson said. "Unless a blockbuster deal comes up, I'm not trading Ben Gordon. You never say never in this business, but no one has presented anything to me that I would remotely consider for Ben. "I think Ben is going to be a better player this year than he was last year. Whatever position we draft, in my mind, it doesn't affect Ben Gordon. I don't see that as an issue at all.</div> Source
http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread...?t=54140&page=5 Posted here a couple days ago, but it’s all good this kind of news deserves its own thread. I am really happy to here Paxson say this. I feel Gordon is our future, unless a blockbuster trade comes that makes us instant contenders (ie. Shaq to Miami) I think we should do all we can to lock him up long term. If he continues to develop he can soon become one of the top scorers in the league. I see Gordon having an AI type career. Not necessarily in terms of greatness, but the kind of player that no matter how well he plays will always have trade rumors surrounding him due to not being the “traditional” two guard. I think with a solid scoring option down low next year Gordon will average over twenty points a game. He led our team in scoring this season with 17 points a game. So it’s feasible to think he could raise that three or four points next season. Anyway, I think Paxson should get an extension.
