<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">James White returned to Los Angeles today for his 2nd workout with the Lakers, a source confirmed to DraftExpress. The workout was ?extremely competitive,? according to one source in the gym and ?one of the longer ones the Lakers have conducted so far,? according to another. White worked out with British power forward Joel Freeland, Stanford senior Dan Grunfeld and another unnamed big man. Our source in the gym went on to say that White ?shot the lights out? and ?dunked on the big men repeatedly.?

He emphasized his ?ridiculous? leaping ability time and time again and mentioned that he ?can?t imagine how anyone can be more athletic than him.? The Lakers got a good look at how the players might fit in their Triangle offense with the various drills they ran, and White?s passing and ball-handling skills tested out extremely well. White measured out at 6-7 1/2 in shoes with a 7-foot wingspan.

Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss made a rare appearance at the workout and was reportedly impressed, as were GM Mitch Kupchak and Head Coach Phil Jackson. According to one of our readers, both Kupchak and Jackson were on separate LA radio shows today talking about the need for drafting an athletic wing with defensive skills that has the ability to shoot the three, with Kupchak mentioning looking at a 4 year player. White fits the ball for all of those needs and is a great fit for the Triangle offense due to his point forward skills, having played quite a bit of point for Cincinnati over the past three years. </div>

    There's a strong possibility he's there at 26.

Dammmiittt. I hope you guys dont get him cuz I am going to be pissed. But none the less you guys could use a guy like him. At first he was projected as a 2nd round.

He's a project. Once you can get him in the weight room though he'll be a special one. A person like Shannon Brown would help the team more though but with teams showing interest in him in the lottery it's unlikely he'll be around.

He's a little over 6'7 with a 7'0 wingspan, he can play SF.

Rare appearance by Buss. Hmm. How can we secure a guy like that will be there in the draft.

I want this guy on the Lakers... I haven't seen his overall game but his dunks are nasty as hell.

He's projected as a 2nd rounder, that's why I think we have a great shot at him. The organization loves him. He could be a star in this league if he gets his head straight, even if he doesn't, he'll be one hell of a player based on pure athleticism for us.

I have a good feeling about our pick at #26... That's my original jersey number.

God damnit, if the Nets take him I'll be pissed. I was worried about that. That's why I didn't want him to start getting some hype, I knew a team like that would swoop in. I'm worried now, I'm hoping they don't take him...but why would they? It makes no sense for them. They have two swingmen already, VC and Richard Jefferson.

Because they have no legit backup at both posistions. Wright, Padgett and Murray aren't exactly top of the line backups. However, I can see where your coming from as I believe they need to take Farmar/Lowry/Collins with one of their picks and taking a big with the other. I personally see Maurice Ager as a better fit for the Nets, but James White is a good fit as well.

I'm not familiar with NCAA basketball but what happened to Leon Powe? Is he still in the draft? He looked like a beast.

He'll be taken late 1st round, or more likely in the 2nd round.

If New Jersey takes White, I won't be too upset if it causes someone else who fits our needs to fall. Maybe Jordan Farmar slides to us instead?
