<div class="quote_poster">Quoting tinyballer:</div><div class="quote_post">You see we are not going to get a pf like the one we can get at the position where we are picking in the trade market or the free agent market but we can get talented swingman do it all like guys a lot easier in the trade market because posts and point guards are more position of value. Yes we have Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift let me ask you do they look like championship team caliber type of PF? I don't think so. If we can get one of those in the draft that would be great because we ain't getting that in the trade or the free agent market. Will we be able to get a sg who scores and defends and is 6'6" and is quick in the trade market or the free agent market? Yes. Is Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy or Randy Foye or Ronnie Brewer a sure thing? Absolutely not it is still a risk taking them. Remember guys like Jerryl Sasser the sure fire guys that turned out busts? I am telling you its a lot more likely and possible to fill the sg/sf void with MLE or Trade Market. Heck we could even get one of those with a 28th pick next year since singman are a common commodity. I believe if we can trade for a Carlos Defino or JR Smith we have guys that can potentially fill the void at those positions pretty good eventually. Is it a risk yes but right now we are in no position to play it safe. We have no tradable assets. So we need to take risks and hope they turn out to be great assets for us. Do i feel these players can succed for us yes when they are given playing time and kept under control in shot selections and factors like that they have shown that they have the ability to play. We arn't the San Antoino Spurs who can play it safe with everything when they already have the assets they need to win a championship. We don't so we need to take risks to get them.</div>
I know what ur sayin, but I think ur overemphasizing the need for an allstar PF. Yao dominates most of the post area, we don't need another 20pt scorer with his back to the basket. We need a PF that simply does his job, rebound, defend and score occasionally. If we draft a PF and end up not getting anybody significant at SG/SF we're gonna be back in the lottery for yrs to come. Plus, we can fill so many more holes by drafting somebody like Roy who can potentially play PG,SG, & SF. That will allow us to trade for a gritty PF like Mark Jackson.

Why would you want Mark Jackson??? He has none of the qualities for the PF u described. If you want a decent PF in this draft Andrea Bargani is your only option because his main offensive weapon is shooting. He will spread the floor.

The PFs in this draft are mostly all capable jump shooters, rebounders, shotblockers capable defenders and one or two has the ability to play back to the basket. Aldridge is a decent jump shooter. Bargnani has a very very good jump shot out to the three. Those are two guys we should be trying to get. This is our last chance we can get a playoff caliber Power Forward. We can't sign one in free agency and in the future our picks would be in the low 20s. Like you say we don't need a 20pt but we need someone who is above average at the pf spot who can defend and rebound and shot block as well as score garbage baskets and jump shots. Lamarcus Aldridge and Andrea Bargnani does that for us. They could even one day be 20 point scorers for us and immerge as the third option. The need for a shooting guard/small forward is great but those assets are a lot easier to acquire via trade and free agency. There are those guys who are 6'6" and quick and explosive and can shoot on the market and there is a lot of them. How many playoff caliber pfs do you see? One Ben Wallace and he can't spread the floor for us. See how many teams are vieing for a pf? When we can get one we should get one if that person falls to us. If its a guy who we think can't be that championship team caliber pf for us we still don't select him. CD can make some trades and sign some people and get those people we need on the wings. Can we still get good wins next year at the low 20s yes can we get good posts pf there no.

The latest reports have Atlanta giving Shelden a verbal promise to take him at #5. They simply don't believe that Shelden will slip past Minnesota and Boston to us at #8. The Hawks really want Shelden. I think it will be hard for them not to take him at five if thats who they want, because nobody has a read on the Celtics at #7.

Looks like if we want Roy, we are going to have to deal with someone besides Atlanta.

And to that argument me and Rocket4Life have had we can still get a guy that turns out better than our first round pick if we pick a shooting guard in the second round with the #32 in James White or Denham Brown
