<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">But the big deal floating around is Iverson to the Boston Celtics, Boozer to the 76ers and Szczerbiak to the Utah Jazz. Of course, more parts have to be included, though I couldn?t see the 76ers dealing Iverson within their division, even if divisions are almost meaningless. Perhaps they cannot find a Western Conference trading partner.</div> http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...s/14901508.htmm
Don't see it happening. ESPN Insider Chad Ford already said that he spoke to a number of Celtics and Sixers sources and they have said there have been no such discussion. If the Celtics really had an interest in Iverson then I think they have the tools (draft pick + one of your young players) to get a deal done just straight up with us.
And, apparently it was a three-way discussion with Boozer ending up in Philly, Wally in Utah and Iverson in Boston (obviously, spare parts would be involved to make the deal work), which makes even less sense, because why would Philly want Boozer with Webber on the roster. Thats a ton of money tied up in one position.
The 76'ers shouldn't deal Iverson to the Celtics without getting Pierce in return. Boozer is great but he's not equal to Iverson. The Celtics wouldn't like this trade though because IMO Pierce has more value than Iverson.

If you trade a super-star it's very hard to get equal value in return. Look at the T-Mac for Steve Franchise deal if you don't belive me, or Shaq to Miami.
I know that but there's always a better deal around and Iverson for Boozer isn't one of them. If the Lakers got Wade, Odom and Grant, the Shaq trade would have been closer to equal value.

If the deal ever happened, you can bet on a bunch of good young talent landing in Philly alongside Boozer.

Apparently Andy Katz is reporting that Philly and Boston are looking for a third team to complete the deal. I guess the Cavs are involved now with Gooden, and Katz said the C's would be giving up both Jefferson and Green.
i dont think this trade is going to happen, and i hope it doesnt. As great as iverson is, he has even less good years left in him than pierce and needs a ridiculous amount of shots to get his incredible numbers. not the guy to hand the reigns of this celtics team to right now
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">According to sources, however, the Celtics were working hard to create a scenario that would make it happen, with the latest understanding that the transaction would need to involve multiple teams. Several Celtics names were being discussed, but it is important to note that everyone contacted insists that Paul Pierce is definitely out of bounds. At this stage, while two sources said the Celtics were willing to discuss other moves for a veteran, most everything else appears to have been pushed aside in an effort to get an Iverson deal in line.</div> http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...rticleid=145960 <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Speaking of blockbusters, the Celtics last night were trying to pull off a trade for the Sixers’ Allen Iverson, according to an Eastern Conference GM. Their offer included Wally Szczerbiak, who they’re actively shopping, and their first-round selection, No. 7 overall. Philly has been entertaining offers for its superstar scorer over the past few weeks, but the Sixers want an All-Star performer in return.</div> http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...9p-363049c.html
Boston should not do this, I don't think they should give up two very promissing young players in Green and Jefferson. I also, don't think the Iverson/Pierce relationship would work out that great either, not enough shots to go around IMO.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Swish15:</div><div class="quote_post">Any team with Allen Iverson and Paul Pierce is going to be fun to watch. I hope this happens.</div> Ya, I'm a big Pierce fan, and him with another superstar in AI would be extremely exciting to watch. It means more talent on the Celtic roster and it means more Celtic games on national tv If that trade does go down, I just pray Pierce gets his touches.
What happened to teh Celtics youth movement. Don't trade for AI, Green could be the next T-Mac. I can't really see Iverson being teammates with Pierce, they just don't look good on the same team. AI n Webber should go to Madison Square Garden. Celtics have the coolest logo colors and jerseys though so AI's jersey sale would prolly be back on top.
I think AI could work with Pierce, the rest of the players have to be good role players though, and I don't think Boston has the pieces to build around those two. I'd definitely like to see an Allen-Pierce combination though. If AI can work with Webber he can work with Pierce.
Paul Pierce was on Quite Frankly last night and SAS asked him straight up who he needs on the team to help him win. Pierce said he needs KG, Jermaine O'neal, or Iverson. He said all four of them are in a similar situation and are at the point in their careers where they want to win first and aren't worried about money. He said having too many young guys is impossible to win, because young guys are more concerned about getting financial stability and long term deals. They aren't 100% focused on basketball. [paraphrasing what Pierce said] SAS then asked him out of the three names who would he want to play with most. Pierce said, well I guess I have to say Iverson since those rumors have him coming to Boston. SAS said, if you and Iverson are teammates how else is anyone going to get shots on this team? Pierce said, you don't need other guys taking shots, we just need the three other guys to get rebounds for us. LOL.
