Don't even mention Pierce and Garnett together, I might have a heart attack. I don't think Iverson and Pierce could be on the same team. Two star swingmen on one team wouldn't work. I can understand Jermaine or Garnett working well with Pierce but not Iverson. Just like I can see Iverson doing well with Jermaine or Garnett.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post"> Two star swingmen on one team wouldn't work. </div>Ever hear of Jordan and Pippen?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 44Thrilla:</div><div class="quote_post">Ever hear of Jordan and Pippen?</div> I thought of that before but the difference is that when Jordan and Pippen were together, they weren't established superstars. Their ego's grew together while playing with each other and winning championships. Iverson and Pierce are already established superstars. If they became superstars together on the same team, it would be a different story because they would realize that they can be a leathal combination together(assuming they won rings).
Word is that this deal is going to get done as soon as possible. I guess the hold up is Philly wants Telfair instead of Green, but Danny doesn't want to give Bassy up. The deal should look like this: Wally, Jefferson, and Green for Iverson. I also heard Danny isn't high on Green, that's why he doesn't mind trading him.

I can see why Ainge wants to keep Telfair. Playing Telfair and AI during stretches of the game would be tough for teams to matchup with because of the speed these two have. I really liked the progress Green made in the video you posted against the Raptors. If I was Philly I'd actually want him over Telfair. Sorry to see the Celtics give up Jefferson. He never had a chance to develop last season with all the injuries. His confidence is probably at rock bottom, but a change of environment might be just what he needs. Dumping Wally's obnoxious contract is an added bonus.

Anyways, how do you know the deal is close 44? I think the deal is okay, I don't really like Wally much considering his contract, but he is a pretty good offensive player. As for Jefferson? I don't really know much about him, from what I heard, he sort of regressed last season. But anyways, my ideal deal would look like this: Wally, Gomes or Powe, and Green for Allen Iverson and filler?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Smitty:</div><div class="quote_post">^Thing is if we did that deal, who would be the Sixers starting PG? Willie Green?</div> Jay Williams.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post"> Anyways, how do you know the deal is close 44? </div>Just some information from a source that works for the Celtics. He's fed correct information many times before, so I trust that he knows what's going on. One of the other things he said was that there have been several scenarios discussed, including deals that involved other teams (one possible deal involved 19 players) due to Philly's need for a PG and their disinterest in Wally. Take it for what it's worth, but I believe it.
AI and Pierce will be determined to win a championship. Pierce and Iverson = scary duo = championship contenders.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post">Just curious, how do you guys, as Celtic fans, feel about this trade?</div> I personally LOVE IT! I think it would be great to see Pierce and AI battle it out on the court, together, for a change. The talk of who gets the last shot and each of them wanting the ball 24-7 is ridiculous. They both want to win, it's is simple as that. I see it working out well, if it goes down. But... Danny can't say he doesn't want to give up Telfair, he will be forced to give up some good players and if Telfair is one of them, so be it. Though I would be sad to see Gomes go if thats the case, but whatever Philly wants in exchange for Iverson is okay with me, obviously with the exception of Pierce.
Th celts have so many young guys, that if you only have to lose wally and a few young guns, then why not? I think this is a steal for boston. They will have two superstars and still have tons of young talent. i am not so sure how the team would mesh, but it would be fun to watch.
This is what i think of Allen Iverson coming to the celtics. Hell yea~! Think of it this way Pierce+Iverson+West+Ratliff...... Im a now person not a , " lets wait a few more years and lets the young guys get good. This is my point. Wait for them.... hmmm... hell no. cuz they could be waiting for a bunch of useless people that have no proven NBA talent. Im only 20 , so i never saw them even go to the championship. The deal is a win win decision no matter what. Every game will be sold out. The team will actually make the playoffs and not get knocked out in the first round. Im a now person. Theyve been tryin to develop a team of rookies for a long time and <u>nothing has come out of it!</u> I just feel so bad for pierce all this dedication to a team. He had the option to leave just recently , but did he..... NO. Bring AI over here , cuz there both shooting for that same goal and its a goal all us celtics fans also have to get a championship, and be the TOP RANKED TEAM, AND NOT BE LOOKED DOWN ON BY EVERYONE ELSE. Im sick of always seeing sports highlights of the week on ESPN and its always a different team blowing by us. PIERCE+IVERSON= CHAMPIONSHIP, and if you aint with that , you dont kare bout Pierce or the Celtics . peace
Lopez85; thats a good way to look at it. I agree with you. Pierce has had so many opportunities to go play for a contender, but he has always remained in Boston. Now it is time to bring in a key piece of the puzzle a.k.a. Allen Iverson. I think it would work out great, and Pierce himself was high on the idea. It's time for Ainge to forget about the future, it's all about the present now.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">During the final stages of the negotiations, Pierce voiced his concerns about the future and appreciated the honest answers he received from Ainge. ``Jeff actually wanted me to be a free agent just because I hadn't experienced the whole thing," said Pierce, who also revealed that he will have minor surgery on his left elbow Aug. 1 in Boston. ``But I wanted to be a Celtic. That's why I made this decision. Danny told me he's going to do everything he can to make this a better team each and every year until eventually we become contenders. I believe him. He was just honest. Sometimes Danny is brutally honest. As a competitor who's played the game, he understands me. He wants to win just as bad as I do. ``With the [possible deal] for Allen Iverson, he straight-up said, `Paul, I really don't know if we're going to get Allen Iverson, but the one thing I can say is we're working hard to bring someone here to help you and to help this ballclub become better.' I believe him. I don't think they would have made this commitment to me if they weren't trying to help this team be a winner. If they didn't want to re-sign me, then they were going in a different direction. By making this commitment to me, I think they're making a commitment to be a contending team in these next five years."</div> <a href="http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2006/07/19/plan_helped_pierce_to_stay_put/?page=full" target="_blank">Plan Helped Pierce To Stay Put </a>
