<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Heat on Monday granted forward James Posey an extension to the deadline by which he must decide whether to opt out of the last year of his contract. Posey, who was supposed to give the Heat an answer by Tuesday, now has until Friday. He's believed to be strongly considering opting out of a deal that would pay him $6.4 million next season in order to negotiate a long-term contract with the team. Posey said Friday he wants to remain with Miami. Agent Mark Bartelstein declined to say if he would begin talks with the Heat on a multiyear contract. Meanwhile, guard Derek Anderson -- who exercised the opt-in in his contract by last Friday's deadline -- will meet with coach Pat Riley soon after Wednesday's NBA Draft to determine his future, agent Tony Dutt said. Anderson will ask Riley if he can expect to be in the rotation next season. If the answer is yes, Anderson said he wants to stay. If the answer is no, Anderson said he would seek a buyout for a portion of the $2.5 million he's owed. The Heat will strongly consider a buyout if he's not traded in the next few days, according to a league source.</div> Source
Nice! I don't know about what Anderson can do for us cuz he barely played. But I hope he gets some role next year and stay with us.
Look at the game against Atlants without Wade, Derek was HUGE in that game I like him and hope he stays.
DA's Decision making is highly questionable. But when hes making great decisions he is highly effective. I loved him his first years at portland, he and bonzi used to kill.

Posey is due $6.4 million for next season, but apparently will angle for a longer-term deal with the Heat. In order to extend his contract beyond the coming season, the veteran sixth man must opt out by today and then wait until July 12 to re-sign. He would be a free agent in the interim. The Heat also must let guard Jason Kapono know by today whether it will pick up the $1.1 million on his conditional contract for next season. In need of outside shooting, the Nuggets reportedly had considered trading for Kapono during Wednesday's NBA Draft. Today is the deadline for most 2006-07 contract options to be exercised. Among those facing the deadline is former Heat guard Eddie House, who can opt out of the $930,000 on his Suns contract for next season. House, who flirted with the Heat during last summer's free-agency period, has expressed concern about a lack of minutes in Phoenix. At Wednesday's draft, the 2007 second-round pick the Heat had forwarded to the Lakers in its 2004 acquisition of center Shaquille O'Neal was dealt to Dallas by Los Angeles.</div> Posey Weighs Opting Out
