Looks like Colangelo decided to keep the pick. He's narrowed it down to two players: http://tsn.ca/nba/news_story/?ID=169858&hubname=
For some reason I think that he will pick Andrea Bargnani and if he picks him over LaMarcus Aldridge I would call it a bad pick.
Even if Colangelo picks Bargnani (which I think he will, but hopes he doesn't), I wouldn't call it a bad pick until we see him play. Obviously, he's done his homework on this guy and I would hope he wouldn't take a huge risk picking at number one.
This will probably put some stability in everyone's mock drafts. It's really hard for anyone to criticize his Bargnani pick. I've never seen someone put so much scouting into one player. Obviously he (along with Gherardini) sees something that none of us have had the oppurtunity to see.
I think it will be a good pick overall; there is no doubt in my mind Bargnani might be the most talented player in this year's draft.
I think most of us are going by what the so called "experts" are saying about Bargnani and most of the time these same "experts" are full of b.s. I have my doubts too, but I trust Colangelo's basketball knowledge. Now if Bargnani turns out to be a bust, that opinion will change. We better get someone that can make an impact at number one. If Colangelo has any doubts at all about this then I would rather him trade down. I think Araujo has made us all hesitant about drafting a white-big guy again (myself included). I remember the first draft we ever had and everyone wanted Ed O'Bannon because he was fresh off a national championship with UCLA. Everyone booed when we drafted Damon Stoudamire. Good thing we didn't go with O'Bannon because we probably would've won like 10 games the whole season.
i know for sure that if bargnani get picked (i hope he doesn't but i think he will) he won't be joining toronto for at least another year or two he is just not nba ready as of now true that he MIGHT be a very good player in the future...but it definitely won't happen anytime in the next 3 years therefore...why bother to wait? it's not like toronto is a good team and can afford to wait they need immediate help and bargnani isn't the answer
Why wouldn't he come over this upcoming season? The competition he faced in Europe is far superior to the NCAA and he proved that he could be a consistent starter on one of Europe's best teams. He definitely has a lot of aspects to improve upon and won't make a huge impact at first, but his progression should definitely happen in the NBA.

If we pick him up with a lower pick we trade for, slightly different story. I'm not opposed to drafting Bagnani, but with the number one pick i think it's a huge risk. I'd rather see someone we know slightly more about with the #1 spot. If we do this CV has trade bait written all over him. I sort of get the feeling Colangelo is concentrating on someone that hasn't been on top of our radar in terms of media attention for a probable raptors pick - maybe Gay, Morrison, who knows ...
i dont understand how people can be so sure about bargnani...be it that he's not nba ready, or that he's such a talent...arent we all just going on the words we've read in the news and on the web? how much knowledge about the guy do any of us have? i have an idea...not nearly as much as colangelo does. and for the first time in a LONG time, i have 100% confidence, and faith in our GM, so whatever pick he decides to go with, i support it. BC knows what he's doing, and he has access to more info then any of us...so if he picks bargnani, or doesnt...im happy with whatever he decides to do personally id like to see rudy gay a raptor
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Swish15:</div><div class="quote_post">I bet they will go with LaMarcus Aldridge.</div> Hey AJ, if they do take LaMarcus how far does Bargani fall in the draft?
if toronto drafts bargnani and charlie is also staying where are the minutes for him? colangelo stated on forxsports that toronto will build around bosh, charlie, and...graham (to me that's a bit scary having graham as your #3 cornerstone) graham is also a SF charlie is PF/SF bargnani definitely is not a centre for PF bosh clogs it for the next few years SF there is also charlie and graham where does he belong? he would develop better in terms of minutes in europe for at least another year before he comes to NBA by that time graham supporters can have a clearer look of what he is capable of...if graham still develop minimally, which i think he will then bargnani steps in and fills up the spot that been said still doesn't make sense for charlie/bargnani/bosh to be on court at the same time...because bargnani just isn't a centre and for a #1 pick i believe you want a starter not subbing him that's why i don't support him being picked #1
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheBlackMamba:</div><div class="quote_post">I think the Raptors take Bargnani or Gay.</div> Gay definitely will sell a lot of jerseys (good advertising? good timing?) because the Pride week was just over the only advantage i see gay joining toronto is that he played with charlie before that's about it oh...and his insane potential that doesn't show up until he feels like it
I read Colangelo's quotes in the article, and I'm still not convinced that he's keeping the pick. Sounds to me like he's getting this out there to see if other teams will step up their offers for that top pick. Bargnani can be had with a late top 10 pick, so if that's who he goes with, then I think he wasted a golden opportunity to gain another valuable asset.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting 50:</div><div class="quote_post">Hey AJ, if they do take LaMarcus how far does Bargani fall in the draft?</div> Bargnani falls all the way down to the Timberwolves.
It will be interesting what lineup Mitchell can come up with. I don't follow the team, so i'm not sure if he's experimental like D'Antoni, but he has to come up with something creative if Colangelo is to draft Bargnani or Aldridge.
