Wow, after three years of the Warriors taking the guy Jerry West wanted, he finally does it to the Warriors. As a side note, I've never liked Battier's game in the NBA (loved him at Duke though), and I never understood fans' facination with him. But it looks like for the second time in as many years, Jerry has found a way to dump a player on Houston. btw, I dislike Battier's game, I absolutely hate Swift's game.
Well for any Warriors fans disappointed in not getting Gay, the history of picks chosen at #8 in recent times hasn't been that great. #9 is where it is at! It is now between Brewer or O'bryant or trade the pick for somebody that wants him more. Maybe Seattle would give us Rashard Lewis or something for one of these dudes. Heh.

My problem with O'Bryant is that he's no better than Biedrins, so why get him? The Warriors could get a better big man through trade or certainly through next year's draft.
Good pick by Warriors. Not a good risk to readiness ratio, but we need the size. Lot of franchises are make or break with their big men inside.
well. Nothing sexy, but we drafted what we needed. We will see what will happen. BTW, will we ever address our SF issue anytime soon? Mmm... 7 out of 9 and Gay and Roy being flopped... Not bad. 77 pts...

My first problem is will O'Bryant have the work ethic to live up to his potential? I like his hands, size, potential, and his shotblock skills, but that's about it... He's weak as Biedrins in the post. We could more easily find a small forward replacement through FA whereas big men it's a lot harder to chase after with the way big men get paid these days. The second problem is the Warriors may not be able to develop all these young guys at once... They've got to focus on maybe a few prospects and get quality guys ready to play now who can maybe teach these young guys something about the game. I'm tired of Foyles and Fishers who don't know anything about the position they play except maybe one or two things.
I'm sure if we get experience in all the right places, not having it at center won't be as bad. Just as long as we can count on hands, defense, dunks, short range hooks... O'bryant at least can shoot a good level of free throw % for his size. I mean he's at 70% which is acceptable for a big dude. That's around Jrich average.
Heh, Sene with 10th pick. First big surprise. Typical great potential with no skill player. Couple years ago Warriors drafted Biedrins with 11th and Sonics drafted Swift with 12th pick. Now, we drafted O'Bryant with 9th pick, and Sonics drafted Sene with 10th pick...
The more I think about this, the less I like it. I haven't even been thinking about Chirs Taft. But when I do, I like him as much or more than O'Bryant.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jason voorhees:</div><div class="quote_post">I rather have Gay (potential all-star), but POB should be able to help right away.</div> Uh, he probably won't, but considering we have Foyle, maybe yes?
Why not? I figure Taft will moving over to PF now. But it could be AB. I'm not sure which one would go better with POB.

I think it was their last 3 drafts in a row they picked center. Robert Swift, that French dude that people were raving about, and now that Belgian guy that just started playing basketball last week.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">Uh, he probably won't, but considering we have Foyle, maybe yes?</div> Especially cause we have Foyle. POB should be able to clog the middle and make guys think twice about going in there. Foyle could block shots, but wasn't intimidating.
