I know lots of you guys arent happy with the pick...and although I'd like to have seen the Raps trade down and pick Rudy Gay...I'm still happy with the pick, because i have 100% faith and confidence in Colangelo...if he thinks this is our man, then im gonna back him everyone else's thoughs?
Like Dick Vitale said, what was said about the Darko`s and the Tskitishvili`s is exactly being said about this guy. Hopefully for Toronto he won`t be another foreign, and basically an overrated, bust.
Fairly anti-climatic when it came down to it. Oh well. I've slowly been more impressed with him and obviously Colengelo sees something in him. Plus, BC's staff is the more informed than anybody else about Bargnani, so we'll just have to see what he has planned. Oh, and Dick Vitale is the Don Cherry of basketball.
During the draft preview, Charlie said that he loves it here and that if it was up to him, he would play the rest of his career here in Toronto. It's good to hear that. As for the pick, I can't say anything about it until we see him play. I am kind of disappointed that we didn't get someone that could contribute and make an impact right away, as it is a number one pick. But that probably has more to do with this year's draft class than anything else.

I'm happy. I wanted Bargnani or Gay the most, and we got Bargnani. I have trust in Colangelo and he knows more about him than any experts or GM's about Bargnani, so I'm happy. Go Bargs! By the way, I was hoping we would trade to get Williams who slipped to the Nets, but now the Nets have the perfect sucessor for Kidd.
I'm not too thrilled about this pick, just because I don't know much about Bargnani and how international players haven't had the best history. The only good news is that we have that assistant GM from Italy, and Canada is fairly international so maybe Bargnani will want to stay with us. We seemed to have a lot of knowledge on him, so if its a mistake its a well-informed mistake.
i guess im happy with Bargs..i dont know though..if he turns out to be a bust--i'll be VERY pissed off! and i really hope BC can pull off a trade wth the Nets and get us Marcus Williams

What Bothers me about the draft is Phoenix gave up its 2 first round picks for cash considerations. Colangelo should have weaseld in on that somehow even if he had to give up the second rd pick (He all of all people should have known phoenix was in cap trouble). tIt especially's bothers me because there were a llot of point gaurds availble when phoenix traded its first pick 21st overall. eg. M Williams, rondo, Lowry, Farmar, Rodriguez. I guess he is not a fan of gauranteed contracts. But man I would have loved to have Marcus Williams.
