Even if we get passed the second round its because of a dominant yao and a dominat t-mac not because of some sh+thead in Shane Battier we could have had a lot more contributions from Gay.

This is the type of stuff that pisses me off.

Like JVG said you draft offenec and you can teach defence especially with someone who is 6'9" and 7'3" wingspan and has all the tools to be a shutdown Dman JVG can get it out of you he definetly had the potential he got it out of mcgrady he would have fit even better than Battier into our offensive system by O rebounding and shooting and driving and cutting and battiers only slight advantage is his above average shooting.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Umair15:</div><div class="quote_post">Ok the only good thing i see about this draft is that we just dumped stro's contract. and we finally have some money to get a good free-agent. now i dont even care about this trade, unless rudy gay turns out to be a lebron james type of player. then i will cry! but i dont care about this deal. hopefully battier helps us and will be our third scoring option averagin atleast 15 ppg. If we get past the first round next year, im happy with the trade. If Rudy Gay turns out to be real good, them im mad!</div> What cap room? Stro and Battier's contract are almost identical.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting igotask8board:</div><div class="quote_post">What cap room? Stro and Battier's contract are almost identical.</div> We don't pay Gay's rookie contract, which would have been around $3-4 million a year.
NO would have been dying to get Swit if we wanted to get rid of him that bad and Gay's contract would have been for 2.5 million dollars which would have been worth paying since he was the 8th pick and not the first his salary is in the 2 million section.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Whoever said that Battier is 29 needs to go back to elementary math school. Shane Battier was born on September 9, 1978. That, for those of you who call him "old", makes him 27 and 28 at the start of the season. He's less than a year older than McGrady. How does that exactly make him "old"? </div> Sorry dude, I just saw from somewhere in the thread that Shane was 29, so I assumed he was 29, I finished Honors Geometry with A's in both semesters, thank you very much. Adds a 4.5 to my GPA, sorry if that math thing got you anal, but I'm Asian, and Asians can't go wrong with math. Anyway, I was depressed earlier today, but I feel much better. Seriously, all I'm asking for is a healthy T-Mac and Yao by training camp, is that too much to ask for? Shane will be great for us, I'm sure, like someone said, a huge improvement over the likes of Bogus and Weasley. I just hope Gay won't get too good. So so far our lineup will look like this: PG-Alston SG-Shane Battier SF-McGrady PF-Juwan Howard C-Yao Ming Not too shabby, I mean much better than the playoff roster of 2004-2005. Anyway next year there will be 3 powerhouses in the West. San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix. Which means just one other team will get past the first round. It could very well be the Grizz, any of the LA teams. Or it could be us, and I think we could be the one that shines through. Seriously, all I'm asking for is a healthy T-Mac and Yao by training camp, is that too much to ask for?

This ***might*** be the kinda deal that makes sense for 2 or 3 years where it gets us past the first round of the playoffs, then later on make us hate CD and JVG for not picking Gay. Even w/ Battier, we're not getting past the 2nd round or conference finals of the playoffs, sure this trade makes the team better instantly, but not a championship contender. I would've liked to see Houston keep Gay.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting tinyballer:</div><div class="quote_post">WHo the hell is that????? Is that supposed to make us feel good about losing rudy gay?</div> we got steve novak.. i dont care about gay nomore. but he is some guy from israel
Still the thought of Rudy Gay full potential playing next to T-Mac and Yao...orgasmic.... I wonder what went through Van Gundy's mind during the time. Woudn't you say the pulled the trigger way too fast? If a team gets 5 minutes to choose a 2nd round draft selection, shouldn't we take 5 minutes to think about the trade? Wonder what T-Mac thinks about this....
Lol.. yeah.. he pulled the trigger too fast.. but im just wondering.. rudy gay playing with t-mac and yao.. but too bad the trade happened.. cant take it back now..so now im wondering battier playing with yao and mcgrady..
I can't believe how great the Rockets made off with this trade. They get rid of the Stromile mistake and get arguably the most underrated player in the League in Battier. Seriously, Rockets fans will see the team improve greatly this upcoming season and wonder why. Battier's the type of player every team would kill for.
If it makes you feel any better, Grizz fans weren't too happy with the trade either. They felt Shane Battier was an underrated player who was the heart and soul of their team, now gone, and they have a contract to handle in Stro. Gay might be good, but that's for time to tell. Battier playing with T-Mac and Yao doesn't sound very bad. Solid role player to the duo.

We sucked until he started 04-05 season (we were like 12-14) than just started winning games out of nowhere. 05-06 year he was gone and we missed his energy and hustle. Battier can bring that to the table.
I'm pissed, I don't care if he hasn't played a game yet, you can say that about anyone...That's it, too pissed to right anything else.
Well, I was just reading through this thread. Rockets fans sound like Steven A. Smith. They haven't seen enough of either player and are completely dismissing Battier's game. There's a reason he got owned by Greg Anthony. Seriously, you'll love this guy after half the season is over.
