Good steal. I didn't think he would drop to #26. But we got a good one in Farmar. He has a great IQ and great ball handling skills. Hopefully he can step up and make an impact imediately. Welcome aboard Farmar.

Yup solid pick for the Lakers, I was hoping Shannon Brown dropped to us, but I can't complain about Farmar.

Yea, I still think that we need Marcus Banks. Farmar can't really play defense and we know that Smush can't either. I would feel much more comfortable having Marcus Banks starting. However that would make us a PG heavy rooster maybe we could work out a trade of some sort...

I believe we might trade McKie, but who knows at this point in time. Honestly I liked Green from watching him play this year..he played intelligently and he was quick...so hopefully we keep Green and trade McKie and someone else for a good post player, backup to Kobe, or PG...

Farmar is a pretty good defender from what I've seen. Howland really stresses defense to his players so in that regard I wouldn't worry about that.

HOWEVER, I dont think highly of him at all as a player. He's not a great shooter, he doesn't have super quickness, and his decision making leaves a lot to be desired. He has always reminded me a lot of Janero Pargo for some reason.

Here is something to note: Last season, Sports Illustrated did a piece on each conference where they polled the players of the conferences on different categories. Guess which player got the most votes for 'overrated' amongst his Pac-10 peers..... you guessed it, the newest laker, Jordan Farmar.

I think Mitch done screwed us again ... but i'm in the minority i guess

I'm right with you notMuchgame. I'm not a big fan of this pick, I would've much rather gone after Maurice Ager or James White. I still hope we sign Banks, but rumor is that Kobe Bryant went to Mitch to talk to him about offering Cassell the full MLE, so we'll see what happens.

Kobe is smart.. It seems like Clippers are hesitant on giving cassell the 2 year extension. Lakers need some veterans on their roster. If Clippers are not resigning cassell which is a huge mistake... Mitch Kupchak should get on this right away. Cassell made clippers a contender and he should do the same for the Lakers if they are wise enough to acquire him.

James White? I think your just blinded by his athletic ability and can't realize he has quite a few flaws in his game. Farmar will be a much better fit in LA than White would.

Agree, I don't understand why White still gets tons of hype after he failed to do anything in college. He's not going to amount to much in the NBA.

IMO this is a very good pick for the Lakers. They need someone who can come in now and help as well as someone who will contribute down the line. Farmar (not Farmer) is a pure PG but I still think he'd fit well in the triangle because he can get guys like Kwame, Mihm, Odom, Smush, or Walton easier shots and that will allow the team to be less reliant on Kobe for offense. His athleticism is pretty good and his courtvision and feel for the game are excellent, plus hes a local boy. Once he improves his outside shooting and his strength he should be a great fit in the triangle.
