Ok that came way out of left field, but so far it looks like we got Lior Eliahu a 6-8/9 SF...Ok goodbye Bowen for sure. The 44th pick from Orlando Magic. For cash from the Rockets. NOVAK OWNS ALL! Except Gay. Our Line up so far: PG-Alston SG-TMac/Head SF-Shane Battier/Eliawho PF-Howard/Hayes/Novak C-Yao T-Mac will guard SF's and Shane will guard SG's. Only our MLE left to fix our backup center spot and our backup PF spot.
Novak could play that Scott Padgett role. Stretch the floor for Yao but like Padgett, he doesn't have a true position. Doesn't solve our PF problems but definitely a solid pick.

What a Jewish warrior. I heard if you go to the army on a drum major you don't have to fight though, lol.
Ok. Well anyone go to the Draft Party. WTF was the big surprise? Was it all the nonsense that went on 2day? I bet nothing happened...I am glad I didn't waste gas going their. I would be in a jail cell if I did.
At first I was all for this, but when we gave up Stro it made no sense. Our needs were to get younger, faster, and more athletic. But yet, all we got was Shane Battie. We FAILED. I don't know whether the Texans were talkin to the Rockets, but we had a chance to do some real rebuilding without losing our core players and we screw'd up. We practically GAVE Memphis our future for somebody who might not be here for more than 2yrs. NOTE TO VAN GUNDY: YOU CAN'T WIN WITH ALL DEFENSE, YOU NEED SOME OFFENSE TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. Nothin against Battie, but we obviously needed to stack up firepower in the West and we passed up a GREAT opportunity to make that happen in this year's draft.
Gay is still ours Rock4life. Ill admit the rumors don't look good, but you can always hope. We still own his rights and hopefully there is a clasue in the deal where we can keep him and back out of the deal, but Stromile and Gay for Battier is ridiculous.
Because of NBA rules prohibiting teams from discussing trades until finalized, the Rockets could not discuss or confirm the deal, likely because Battier's contract status prevents the deal from being completed until July 12. I read in nba draft net website that Novak has a lifetime free throw and 3 point shooting percentage higher than JJ Redick. He's a pure shooter who can stretch defenses. He'll gonna benefit from Yao and TMac being double teamed. He just needs to bulked up and improved his defense.
NBA Draft Bio-Steve Novak June 13, 2006 NAME: Steve Novak SCHOOL: Marquette POSITION: Forward HEIGHT: 6-foot-10 WEIGHT: 220 pounds SCOUTING REPORT: Watching him stroke long-range shot after long-range shot and taking a close look at his statistics reveal that Novak is the best outside shooter in this year's draft. A career 46 percent 3-point shooter and a 93 percent free-throw shooter, Novak's lifetime 3-point shooting percentage and free-throw percentage are higher than fellow sharpshooter J.J. Redick, who finished his career shooting 41 percent from 3-point range and 91 percent from the line. Novak only missed 18 free throws his entire college career. No one is going to draft him to defend or post up, because he does both poorly. But Novak continued to shoot well and made the All-Portsmouth first team, averaging 16 points and six rebounds, while shooting 46 percent from 3-point land. His height and smooth shooting mechanics allow him to get his shot off and should continue to allow him to do it in the NBA. In college, 73 percent of Novak's shot attempts were 3s, and he will have no problem shooting from NBA 3-point range. He connected on six 3-pointers in a game nine times his senior season, and he averaged 17.5 points per game. However, shooting is where it starts and ends with Novak, though he has improved his rebounding by gradually getting stronger throughout college. He averaged a career-best 5.9 rebounds last season. He is not a good athlete and sometimes struggles against athletic defenders. But he does seem to step up to his competition. Last season, he scored a career-high 41 points in a win over Connecticut. Because of his outstanding shooting ability, Novak will be drafted in the early-to-mid second round and expect him to be on an opening-day roster. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-d...ov=ap&type=lgns Interesting.
Eliyahu is a solid player. He's one of the best players here in Israel, which is one of the top Euro leagues (next to Greece, Italy, Spain and maybe the Adriatic L). He can shoot from the perimeter, has good handles for a big man, and can rebound well. But, like most other Euro prospects, he needs to put on some weight and needs to improve his post game. The Rockets will probably leave him in Israel for around 2 more years, and then you guys will have a great player.
First the Rockets trade Gay for Battie, draft Matt Bullard's brother in Novak, then they trade for the rights to somebody who's only "shot" is gonna come from an M16 rifle when he's fighting in a war in Eliyah. Well, atleast we got a "Jeff Van Gundy" type player in Battie I'm sooo excited.
Steve Novak should be a good fit for the Rockets. When T-Mac or Yao are getting double teamed, they could kick it out to him and he'll knock the trey ball down. Awesome shooter, love his shooting stroke.
I like Novak very much! super quick release on his shot, shoots like a guard! that what i liked in this shooter, nobody can block his shot with his 6-10 Ht... again, he doesn't shoot like a forward, he's a hell of a shooter ladies and gentelmen.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=10981 Novak busted 5-6 3s in a game more than any other college baller. Damn 97.4% FT his senior year and 47% 3s! If he can master the pick and roll w/ T-Mac we should try as hard as we can to get Howard off of our payroll. well I geuss in this situation its a pick and pop
