    Overall Grade: B-

Jordan Farmar: A STEAL! This Steve Nash caliber player is PERFECT for the triangle offense. He is an okay defender, great wide open shooter, and best of all, he makes EXCELLENT decisions. Should complement Kobe greatly.

Cheick Samb: Who the heck is this guy? I don't know what Kupchak was thinking with this pick. If he wanted a center, why didn't he draft Pittsnogle (assuming he was available)?

Cheick Samb was just traded to Detroit for Maurice Evans. I don't have a link but, surely you hear about later.

I heard Farmer got great reviews for being so high in the draft. Good pick.

i dont like farmer, and how is a steve nash caliber player perfect for the triangle offense. i agree he is a good fit for the triangle, but i dont see him anything like nash. farmer looks for his own shot twice before looking for anyone elses.

Question: Can't evens be an effective SF for us? I forgot his role on Detroit...shame on me.

    I give us a C.

I'm not high on Farmer, right now. He's slow, likes to look for his shot, and isn't a great athlete.

I love the Maurice Evans trade though, he should be a great backup for Kobe.

I'm like the complete opposite of you. I hate the Mo Evans trade but like the Farmer pick. [IMG]

I give the Lakers management an A+ in this years draft. We needed a good point guard and we got one in Jordan Farmar. But keep in mind that Kobe Bryant has privately asked the Lakers to make a run at Clips free agent guard Sam Cassell, according to AM 570's David Vassegh. Cassell would like to return to the Clippers but so far they haven't given him more than a one-year offer. Speaking of Jesus, he now has a great backup in Maurice Evans. Evans averaged 5 ppg and 2 rpg for Detroit. LA also traded a future second-round pick to Dallas for George Washington guard J.R. Pinnock. Pinnock averaged 14.5 ppg and was named Atlantic 10 Sixth Man of the Year.

Agree with everything here except the Mo Evans part. A+ as well.

Farmar is a pass first PG and recorded a 40+'' vertical at the pre-draft camp. Tell me, how would James White be a better fit than Farmar? He's going to be a backup in the league, unlike Farmar who could come in and start right away.

I dont think you can knock Farmar's athleticism, at predraft camp he measured in with a 42" vert and he's not very slow.

I would grade it a B, JR Pinnock is nice, I forgot how we got him though, and instead of picking up Mo Evans we should've got a PG like Darius Washington Jr, another one to develop alongside Farmar and whichever one pans out we'll be good to go with.

With all these shooting guards. It's safe to say that the Lakers have given up on George, Green and or Wafer.

It's a 42" vert. I don't care how high he can jump, though. He's not quick at all. The Lakers need a quick PG to keep up with Nash, Parker, Banks (if we don't get him), and the rest of the quick PG's in the league. He can't shoot, he shot 33% from 3 and 41% from the field. He can't create his own shot due to his lack of quickness, and he does tend to look for his shot first. He also struggles on defense because of his lack of strength and quickness. Players are going to blow right by him. In my opinion, the kid is not much of an upgrade over Smush, but whatever, he's an upgrade.

Farmar isn't the fastest guard, but he's not slow and should be able to stay in front of his man. In college UCLA played Zone exclusively on defense, so it's going to take some time for Farmar to learn how to defend man to man.

This was a solid choice at #26, and Farmar is talented enough to win the starting job at PG. He should pick up the offense fairly quickly and has the instincts of a pure point guard.

He's not a shoot first guard, he looks to score when he feels his team needs it, but normally Farmar tries to set teammates up. He really improved Afflalo's and Luc Richard's games at UCLA.

This pick isn't going to hurt the Lakers and improves our backcourt depth. I still hope we pursue Banks or Cassell though. We need Cassell in those late game situations to take the pressure off Kobe. Aside from Kobe, no one else seems to want the ball down the stretch so defenses just zero in on Kobe and it leads to a poor shot.

I love the trade for Mo Evans! I wanted the Lakers to sign him last summer instead of Aaron McKie. He brings tenacity to the back court and is a pitbull on defense. Offensively, Evans is inconsistent, he gets on hot streaks, but when his shot is off, it's really off. However, Evans gives the roster some athleticism and energy off the bench. Great pick up there.

Dannilo Pinnock is another solid player. It's going to be hard for him to make the team. I expect him to be sent to the NBDL especially if the Lakers bring back Laron Profit.

The only regret could be, not trading up to draft Marcus Williams or Shannon Brown. Both of these players dropped a lot further than they were projected to go. There's no question these two would be capable of contributing right away. Farmar has a chance, but he could still be a year away from having any impact on the team.

Going into the draft I wanted the Lakers to add one more pick because this draft glass was loaded with athletic wing players. So many players were traded last night and a lot went for future considerations or cash. I'm a little disappointed the Lakers couldn't get a deal done to go after another guy like James White? Bobby Jones? Leon Powe?

    Overall Grade B-

We traded a future 2nd round pick for the 59th pick. What was his name, and why did we do this? Is this guy any good?

Laron should be back with the team last year. Kobe loved him. Laron brought out a lot of energy when he played. He learned a lot from Kobe, if he hadn't of gotten injured, he would've been a perfect player to back Kobe up all year.
