Last season we began the year with a huge loosing streak, we then followed it up by playing some decent .500 ball. Chris Bosh got injured for the last 10 or so games and we loose most of them. The team got better and learned how to play with eachother better as the season went on, and this was noticable. Most of our losses are games that we could, and in some cases should have won. In contrast, we won some games that we shouldn't have because of the play of Bosh and James in the 4th quarters. All new point gaurds need an adjustment period to some extent. Mike James has one very solid year under his belt as a Raptor and has become very familar with our All-Star power forward and the pick and roll, pick and pop, has become a very deadly play as both of them can fill it up. Mike James made Bosh's season better last year. Villanueva and Bargnani can be used in these plays aswell, and it would't be very hard for Mike James to get them involved in the same way he gets Bosh involved. Jose Calderon and Andre Barret have no defence. Mike James plays intense defence, while maintaining outstanding offence and giving a good 37mpg. Mike James wants a raise, he will get one wherever he goes because you are supposed to pay youre best players. He said he would love to play here if he got the right offer. So why don't we give him that offer?
i disagree...i think mike james COST us quite a few games, with his poor descision making in crucial points in the game, and his reluctancy to give bosh the ball when he's both calling for it, and on fire. if anything james took away from bosh's game although i agree that james is a decent player...i dont think he's worth the asking price...plus he wants to sign a long term deal...do we really want to lock up a guy his game for 5yrs plus? he's a little bit too selfish...id rather a pg who has the same ability to knock down shots, but has the desire to set up teammates FIRST colangelo said that he's not too impressed by the crop of free agents out there this year, so he's going to be addressing the rest of the teams needs via trade.
You wont find a PG like that, unless you pay him even more money than Mike. Chris Bosh missed a few open game winners aswell. When you make big shots, youre gonna miss some. Yes he did make Bosh better because without James, Bosh would have had way more double teams.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BlueBayou87:</div><div class="quote_post">You wont find a PG like that, unless you pay him even more money than Mike.</div> yea, but with james we'll have to sign him for 5yrs or more...getting a good pg, via a trade, but only having to pay him for 2 or possibly 3 yrs isnt so bad. if james was willing to sign A) in toronto and for 2yrs, then id say go for it <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Chris Bosh missed a few game winners aswell. I am from houston, I know mike james sucks but I would keep him if I was toronto cuz you'll lose alot of your points if you get someone else. If mike james leaves, you wont get anyone that score as good as him thats a PG. Thats just my opinion but I know mike james jacks up alot of shots but when he was in houston he didnt make him and now last season he improved a whole lot so its better you keep him and get a SF. cuz who do yall have for SF.
Whos gonna help Bosh when he sees those doubles next year? Whos got the balls to step up as the secondary option? Peterson can, but why not keep him at 3rd option when you can have James as the 2nd option?
^^we dont NEED points to come from our PG...we can get more points from charlie, and if we can get SOME points...even 8ppg from bargnani at center, then thats fine the plan is to get a pg who can give us 10 or 12ppg but mroe importatnly 9apg. where does this mentality of "if we lose james, we dont get back any scoring". if we lose james at starting pg, we'll get someone good to replace him. colangelo isnt stupid <div class="quote_poster">Quoting BlueBayou87:</div><div class="quote_post">Whos gonna help Bosh when he sees those doubles next year? Before James joined the team, we were already averaging 99 points a game. Bosh, Peterson and Villanueva can all score 20 points. The task at hand now is to get a point guard who will get these players the ball in the right situations to score 20, and Mikes James isn't the best man for the job.
That PG is clearly not available to us unless we trade. You want a player who averages nearly a double double? ... that would come at a hefty price. Meanwhile, resigning Mike James who averages nearly 6 assists per game, while maintaining a solid 20ppg is alot more realistic.

Scorers shoot till they make and make till they miss, Mike James is a scorer. It's the first time we had two players who scored 20+ ppg in one season. With a year under his belt as a rap, and us adding some talent to this team (whos gonna take shots when we had no talent, we had Bosh and James) Mike will surely make better descisions. Everyone has bad games, he avergaed 47%, so that means he must have had some ridiculous game. He did have ridiculous games and I watched 82 games this year.
Now ive seen some contract year excuses to explain his season. When you look at it that way, his shots should go down next year right? Since he will get his contract(whoever signs him). So his mind is clear and purely about winning. Who cares if he made bad descisions sometimes, because he makes good descisions most of the time.
I dont think the raps cna make the playoff this season...but as for Mike: If the price is right--i'll be happy for him to re-sign. If he wants a contract for lets say about 6-7 million a year for three years--i'll be happy to give it to him

The only reason he wanted 5 years is because the money wasnt as good as it should be. What he wanted was a 3 year deal.
