<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Boston Herald - While the Celtics appear to still be in the hunt for Allen Iverson, it appears that the star guard is not the only player that Danny Ainge is looking at. According to a report in the Boston Herald, the Celtics also are said to have varying degrees of interest in New Jersey?s Richard Jefferson, Seattle?s Rashard Lewis, Indiana?s Jermaine O?Neal and Phoenix? Shawn Marion. But sources weren?t so sure the Nets would part with Jefferson, and O?Neal is said to be on the lower end of the Celts? wish list. According to league sources, the Celtics are willing to let Philadelphia complete its check of the marketplace before making a final offer for Iverson.</div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/411...ng_a_superstar/
Would love to see the celtics get another superstar, just for the sake of bringing some more exitement to the team, but just dropping Iverson onto the team isnt going to make them a championship contender. even if you add a jefferson or an Oneil or a Marion. you dont know if those 2-3 guys could co-exist and youd probably end up having to give up ALLL the young talent youve stockpiled in addition to taking on some bad contracts/players to make the deals work and the celts would be totally screwed again within a few years
Going by the article, if Jefferson isn't available and O'neal is low on their list, that leaves Lewis and Marion. So Sonic and Suns fans, you might have some Celtics on your team. They'll make a run for both of those players, and I think they'll get one.
Ainge has had goo goo eyes for Casanova ever since we drafted him at 12, and with us drafting a third centre in as many seasons, I'd be shocked if he doesn't make inquiries at the very least.
I really don't think the Celtics have anything that the Nets want. Unless they offer Pierce I see no deal between the Nets and Celtics.
Well the Nets are trying to win now, so trading away Richard Jefferson to anyone on the Celtics is highly unlikely. I think the most realistic option is Lewis from that list. He has one year left on his contract, so I don't think the Celtics would give as much as they would if he had more than a year left on it. However, with Wally there already, and the Sonics being cash-strapped, I can't really a see a deal that would work.
I think we're going to get Iverson, so I don't think any of the other options are very realistic...unless we are going to drain out our entire pool of young talent. Landing AI will probably cause us to lose a combination of two to three of our young players. We don't have enough firepower after that to land another player from that list. But, I do see us making offers for Bobby Swift now that they have Sene in their back pocket.
Its seems as if Iverson could definitely be coming to Boston. The Celts have also been inquiring more about Jermaine O'neil.. Could you imagine having Pierce, Iverson and Oneil? That has to be a recipe for success!
