Robinson will apparently accept less money to return, but it may require a new deal. On Thursday, Ed Stefanski said the Nets "don't know" if Robinson will be back but Rod Thorn was quoted as saying, "It's going to get done". Padgett is expected to be bought out for $400,000. Meanwhile, the Nets are reportedly targeting swingman Rasual Butler of the Hornets for the bench. </div> Source
Good pick. He's like a Lucious Harris selection..come off the bench, he has a ton of confidence. However, he's streaky.
I am happy to the see the Nets bringing together a solid bench. However, I want to see the bench solidify more with respect to big men. The Nets need a vicious bruiser who can start in place of Collins if he is injures, go in for Krstic when he is struggling, and come off the bench and put to the other team. I believe that Jarron Collins is a free agent this season. How about Jason mentoring him into the rotation? Nazr Muhammed can be got for the mid level. Scot Pollard I think also is a free agent. I don't know much about Lorenzen Wright, but he could be someone to try to get with the mid-level. I know I want a bruiser, but how about Walter McCarty? Anyway, I just throwing names out there. It seems to me like this is a strong free agent class for a team shopping for big men.
^Walter McCarty is not a brusier tho, he is a perimeter big man. Scott Pollard probably the only guy you really listed thats a brusier and honestly I dont want him. Jarron Collins,hmm..interesting I have seen him play on the NBA level but not enough to truely define his game. The Jazz are one of the few teams I just dont watch unless they are playing against the Nets or Sam. But it would seem like a comfortable spot here for him to want to come here...but with Utah trying to get rid of Boozer, I would think Collins, who has proven to be solid, would be someone they would want to keep at the right price. Lorezen is the best big of those you listed, but with the bigman market being so slim this year, he might comained more then the mid, I definately disagree with you on the fact that it is a strong free agaent year for bigs, its pretty weak if you ask me. Their are about only a hand ful of quailty unrestricted bigs The Really Good Al Harrington(but he is way out of our price range) Zo Mourning(But he wont play of anybody but the Heat, definately not us) The OK Lorenzen Wright(due to the Market probably end up over paid) Kieth Van Horn(To be honeslty, offesively he wouldnt be to bad here becuase he would be counted upon to be a top 2 or 3 scorer like he was when he was here 98-02, but cant guard, I still wouldnt be a against him as a last option) Tony Battie(me personally, I have always liked him, he doesnt do one thing great but he has a bit of everything, he is definately a guy that would fill out the rotation nicely, my personal favorite for this offseason) That is pretty much all that is out there, I mean you got trash like Kandiman, but never would Thorn make that mistake....The young bigman talent are all restricted Nene, Chris Wilcox, even Elson who is solid, are restricted so it would take probably sign and trade to aquire them, what would we possibly have to offer a team. If we could get Battie and you put him with Collins, Krstic, and Boone maybe even Cliff then I really like the possible rotation we could create.

I think that he could be used to an advantage if he can be got cheap. Scot Pollard has been very solid for Indiana, and I think he would be a perfect man to bring off the bench. If he can be had for half the mid-level, that's perfect. Jarron Collins can be had for mid-level (in don't think that Utah would match that). Jarron has a game very simular Jason, he plays defense very well and does the dirty work like boxing out. I think that he would be the perfect big man aquisition this offseason. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Henacy:</div><div class="quote_post"> Lorezen is the best big of those you listed, but with the bigman market being so slim this year, he might comained more then the mid, I definately disagree with you on the fact that it is a strong free agaent year for bigs, its pretty weak if you ask me. Sure a market can be filled with a surplus of good enough bigmen to start for many teams, but that does not mean that its a strong market for big men because once the starters are gone there might be no good role-bigmen left. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Henacy:</div><div class="quote_post">The Really Good Al Harrington(but he is way out of our price range) Zo Mourning(But he wont play of anybody but the Heat, definately not us) The OK Lorenzen Wright(due to the Market probably end up over paid) Kieth Van Horn(To be honeslty, offesively he wouldnt be to bad here becuase he would be counted upon to be a top 2 or 3 scorer like he was when he was here 98-02, but cant guard, I still wouldnt be a against him as a last option) Tony Battie(me personally, I have always liked him, he doesnt do one thing great but he has a bit of everything, he is definately a guy that would fill out the rotation nicely, my personal favorite for this offseason) That is pretty much all that is out there, I mean you got trash like Kandiman, but never would Thorn make that mistake....The young bigman talent are all restricted Nene, Chris Wilcox, even Elson who is solid, are restricted so it would take probably sign and trade to aquire them, what would we possibly have to offer a team. He is more of a small forward. The Nets cannot realistically even dream of getting him either way. Even if they did, I really have reservation's about this guy ability to think team basketball. Van Horn is washed up. I don't think that he would be a 2nd or 3rd option. The Nets have too much firepower with VC, RJ, and Krstic. Van Horn would be a 4th, 5th option realistically. The Nets do not need what he offers. If fact what he offers is going to be useless on the Nets, unless there is a big injury. Tony Battie - I am not sure if he is a free agent (correct me if I am wrong). If he is a free agent, then that strengthens my argument that this is strong bigmen market. Another guy I totally blanked on is Jake Voskuhl. He is a big body who can play defense and dirty work like Collins. He is also a hard working guy who would be able to be that bruiser that I think the Nets need.
I like the thought of chris wilcox he is pretty solid. But if i was to go with balance and a threat on the inside i would agree with henacy and go for battie
I'd rather nab a bigman before looking into signing a wing player. We could go with a 3 man center rotation like Dallas', where they can use their fouls. Foul trouble wouldn't necessarily mean trouble if we had that many bigs to spare.

I meant to say that he would fit in because he would no longer be counted on to be a 2nd or 3rd option like he was with the 98 playoff team or the 01' playoff team that was a typo mistake, my bad. Jarron Collins for the entire mid seems kind of steep...I wouldnt match either if I was Utah and I wouldnt offer, if I was Rod Thorn and the front office. Yes, Battie is a free agent. And That still doesnt mean that this is a strong big man crop. Definately, no bigman that gets you over the hump in the playoff race and even the solid role player bigs arent as good as just even last year. 05' Unrestricted bigs that we could have obtained Shareef abur Rahim,Donyell Marshall,Stromlie Swift,Othella Harrington,Antoine Walker, Darius Songolia(might be misspelled), Malik Allen, Mark Madsen, Compared to 06' obtainable Battie(best of the bunch for Us),Van Horn,McCarty,Pollard,Jarron Collins and I will even put Wright as outside obtainable and Reggie Evans is a free agent cause I think he deal was for 1 year
Hmmmm...I mentioned him....and yeh...he could realistically be the mid-level guy in my opinion. He provides some grit, and rebounding and a little bit of offense as well. He did not see to have a good two year with San Antonio though.
