<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Speculation abounds that Allen Iverson will be traded this summer, and it'll probably happen. But here's an All-Star type even more likely to be moved: Clippers forward Corey Maggette. Apparently, he doesn't want any part of a sixth-man role, and the Clippers don't want to be told how to play him. So how about Maggette to the Warriors for Mike Dunleavy and Mickael Pietrus? Both the Clippers' Mike Dunleavy and the Warriors' Mike Dunleavy would be happy about that.</div>

This would be huge and solve our SF problem (if Maggette stays healthy).

If that happened I'd be glad. Our free throw % would go up too.

The question is would Sr. even want his kid on his team? Actually, he could be a nice addition. They've already got a decent backcourt, a nice frontline, all Dunleavy would have to do is just make his shots and just be the glue guy like he showed flashes of doing in 2003 with Erick Dampier attacking inside and NVE/Jrich on the outside.

That would be a very good trade for us, even though I'm not a huge fan of Maggette. In terms of BBall IQ we arent upgrading much from Pietrus to Maggette but Maggette is great at getting to the line and converting which is welcome. I'm not sure how good Maggette's defense is either but we could get a cheap defensive SF in free agency. This would also help our cap situation since we get rid of Dun's contract and Maggette is paid a modest 7-8 mil a year over the next 3 years.

We'd probably have to deal Murphy, Fisher or somebody. I don't want too many ballhogs on this team [IMG]

If you look at Magette's numbers and the fact he's also a good defender with a decent deal, there's a huge reason he's being traded. The guy is turnover prone and he's a ballhog. But at least he can live off the foul line. Not many forwards or guards that can do that for us. It's more like get fouled and choke at 60% foul shooting.

Good finesse/power guy though. Probably would suck if he got to the line a bunch and slowly weakened his body into getting injured again.

The answer is yes. He's been pretty vocal about wanting to coach his son, and he's not a big Corey Maggette fan either.

The Clippers main priority now is free agency with the intention of bringing back Radman and Cassell. This would make sense for them to trade Maggette to free up cap space, but taking on Dunleavy's contract would rule that out.

The Clippers are also really high on Korolev and want to have money to re-sign Kaman. They figure Kaman is going to want $10Million.

but maybe if Sr. actually thinks his son can shoot, Vlad may be expendable

I'd be in favor of it, but it's going to be hard to get touches if you're a big man on the Warriors.

Exactly. I thought the idea was to get guys like Diogu and Biedrins more involved inside the paint. Can't have that happen with a high scoring perimeter anxious to shoot it. Plus, Maggette ain't the most polished basketball player in the world, but at least he can shoot better at the foul line and pretty much at the basket than Dun can.

I still feel that we need a guy like Joe Johnson or somebody that's a really good secondary player that can feed the outside or inside, defend, handle, shoot 3's. That guy would be perfect. I was hoping we could get him since he got traded from Boston. James Jones, Jumanie Jones, Joe Johnson. Any JJ works for me.

    Davis - Richardson - Maggette
    Kidd - Carter - Jefferson
Is it just me or is there something very similar there?

    Murphy-Foyle

Warriors bench beats the hell out of NJ's though.

While I'd LIKE to see a COACHED Warrior team mold Pietrus into a player who's a big asset-I also would trade Dun for nearly ANYTHING. Dun + Pietrus + ? for Magette is just about a no brainer. With Maggette we'd win some sf matchups. That happens twice a month with Dun when the moon is full and the Steelhead are running.[IMG]

The ? in this one might be Clips option to swap 07 #1's (with ours protected top 3-just in case Monty coaches the whole year)[IMG]

I'm not an expert but isn't Dunleavy new contract go into effect this season?
if it does, how will Maggette contract match Dunleavy's. Then adding Pietrus contract in the mix does not seem to help the money match. Otherwise the trade seems great.

Dunleavy's contract starts at about 5 mils a year and he'll be on BYC until this time next year. So we can only recieve 2.5 mils back for whatever we trade him for but his full first year salary still goes to the Clips. Pietrus makes a little more than 2.5 mils next year so total outgoing salary is just over 5 mils, the Clippers recieve 7-8 million of salary (Maggette makes $7,280,000 so that is within 25%). The Warriors need to send out a minimum of $5,460,000 to get within 25% of Maggette's $7,280,000 so if Dunleavy and Pietrus's salaries don't get high enough we can add Zarko or Kosta to make it work.

I'm pretty sure that's right but I'm not very good at math. [IMG]
