just wanted to add that if Babcock had of made this deal you'd be hanging him from the rafters. Not becuase we didnt get something valuable back in return, but becuase we didnt get close to good value.

If you ask me i think this is a case of BC being to high on himself...wanting to meet the lofty expectations of his fans, and go out and make deals...change the team, "turn it around". But i think we've gotten to the point where its deal for the sake of dealing.

Sure, they need a point more than they did a 3/4 like CV but they still traded for a player of less value. The Raps traded a big man who is a huge mismatch problem for other teams coming off a great rookie season for an injury prone, undersized, average starting PG who puts up the same numbers. Trading big for small is almost always a bad move and to boot they traded a player with higher potential for a player with lower potential. They should have at least gotten a few second rounders thrown in or something, this is a total steal for the Bucks.

Actually, there's a two year difference. Ford's contract expires after this season, CV's expires 2009/2010 (assuming we would have picked up the option on 08/09, which wouldn't have been an issue at all).

other than it "filling a need" i cant think of one reason why this is good for the raps.

he's a year removed from major neck surgery...a friggen spine injury!
he's 2 years closer to being off his rookie contract
    he's a year older
he's a small point gaurd thats inconsistant, poor shooting, and turnover prone
he's good at getting steals, but a poor on ball defender
he doesnt have the potential that Charlie does IMO

i'm totally speachless (Well not really, i'm ranting really)

What is with all this "YOu never trade a big for a small" talk. you guys have too many bigs. how else besides free agency are you going to get depth at the guard position? TJ is a good player and wil put up some good assist numbers and is a solid rebounder and scorer.

This is what makes the raptors the raptors. What an awful trade for Toronto. The combo of Villanueva and Bosh was going to be crazy. Tj Ford just isnt good enough to give up Villa for.

Bogut at C and CV at PF is going to be a great frontcourt for years to come.

Maybe BC saw somethin in T.Ford like he saw somethin in steve nash
    who knows??

p.s All the BUCKS are relieved now that CV won't drop 48 against them again..lol

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Eclipse:</div><div class="quote_post">It looks like Colangelo was originally inquiring about a trade involving Magloire and it eventually evolved to this deal.</div>

According to Harris, the discussions with Toronto started about Milwaukee's veteran center Jamaal Magloire, who has been mentioned as a possibility for a trade, and they evolved into the deal that was announced Friday night.

    you are right on[IMG]

Baron Davis and Chris Bosh both average 20/9. Do you trade Bosh for Baron if you are Toronto? No because a big man will get you farther than Baron Davis will plus Baron is older, injury prone, more expensive, etc.

How about without regarding age, injury, salary???
I think that;s what happened with CV and Ford
CB and Davis comparios doesnt make sense in this case man..

Well Charlie isn't really a true big, but he still has a lot more value than TJ Ford, let's be real here.

Yes, down to the root of it, the trade is good, but with many IF's.

    1) If TJ Ford from what he did last year, and goes back to being the true PG he was as a rookie, and can also learn to cut down his turnovers.

    2) If Bargnani develops well and is a good player

Wer'e trading Charlie to get a talented but question filled player, and also to accomodate for Bargnani who is unproven, while Charlie has shown he can play in the league.

    Interesting stuff BC....

This reaction reminds me of exactly how Bulls fans reacted when we heard the news Elton Brand was traded for Tyson Chandler. Even though Brand had been playing incredible basketball through his first two NBA seasons, and won the ROY. Well at least it's happening to someone else this time. Ford is going to be a good point guard for years to come though. I don't want to make him sound unproven or anything.

are u insane raptor fans? TJ Ford is one of the best point guards in the league. Do u realize how rare it is for you to find a REAL point guard in this league. You guys are so lucky to have TJ running the point.

I think this a good trade for the Raps. They remove someone from their overcrowded frontcourt and get a much needed PG in return. I could understand your angst towards this trade if getting Mike James back was a lock, but it's not. And after him, who do you have? So really, this was a good trade. You get a pure point guard who can get the ball down low to Bosh and it also gives room for Bargnani to come in and play immediately instead of chillin on the bench for a year or so.

I'm very surprised by this trade, we should of gotten more than TJ Ford.. Raps give up Charlie a young, good PF for a PG who just had a spinal cord surgery. Plus Raps gave up cash too for Ford.. I really question this trade cuz Charlie showed a lot of promise. However, lets wait and see. Well with this trade, Colangelo gets rid of another Babcock "player". I see Joey Graham leaving soon too.
