I just found out something Nene is a free agent! He would be the perfect guy besides yao ming. I know all you thinking i nuts right about now because he doesn't have a jump shots and this leaves teams viable to double team yao but he is the guy who in the playoffs can contain those big time power forwards. Yeah i know what your saying he is another stromile swift because of his stats 10-12 and 6-7 rebounds ain't good but he is the beast we need. He doesn't have attitude problems and hasn't proven himself to being a slack hes just been injury prone. If we get Van Gundy to teach him to position himself better we would have him averaging 12 rebounds in no time. His defense as of now may look bad at times but most of that is due to positioning. Once he learns himself to positioning better he could help us contain the Duncans and Garnetts and Nowizki's in the NBA. Plus even though he doesn't shoot a mid ranged shot he'd be able to clean the garbage. On the offensive end we could have him blitz the boards get rebounds and let him score off of put back dunks and lay ups. Plus he is 24 and can still learn a jump shot. I believe when Malone came into the league he too could not shoot but afterwards he came into the league and learned how to shoot and made that one of his primary weapons. Problem is that to get him we may have to S&T for him and we have pretty much nothing. We could offer them the rights to one or two of our europeans and maybe juwan howard ummm... Because even though he doesn't have the shot to pull defenders out he has the athleticism, work ethic, strength and basically the workhorse who we basically can put beside Yao Ming the beast. Most of you want Gooden but Gooden reminds me way too much of Stromile Swift. Talented but lacks concentration and falls apart at times on defence. What do you guys think about how he'll fit and if we have any shot at him.

Not a big fan of Nene. He isn't that great on both sides of the floor.

A torn ACL is a serious injury I really think it will keep teams away and prohibit him from playing big minutes.

Or maybe because of the knee it will prohit teams from spending big bucks on him so that we could get him with MLE? Look at it this way we get him with the MLE if we luckly do he comes here plays he'd still have a lot of market value if he turns out injured again.

If rockets didn't want to take a risk on Rudy Gay, why would they take a bigger risk in Nene?

Because Nene is the only beast on the market. He would be one of those JVG typed players who play hard, plays aggresively and hustles but is a huge beast that is like a young Karl Malone without having developed a jump shot yet which i believe he will do. They didn't want gay because gay couldn't provide immediate help. Nene is immediate help that could help out right away. Since he hasn't proven to have a bad work ethic i believe JVG can teach him more on how to position for rebounds and that will get him up to the elite rebounding.

I'm not sold on Nene. I think we should target Gooden before we think about going after Nene. Atleast Gooden rebounds very well, is athletic and can shoot some from the 4 spot. Nene still needs a lot of work on his offensive game.

It seems that your whole opinion is driven on a lot of "ifs". Dozens of players have had the body that Nene had, none really turned into the player you're projecting him to be. Especially when the Rockets are making moves to win immediately, Nene can't be counted upon to turn into a 15/10 guy overnight. As of now, he's just a scorer, nothing else. To expect him to become multi-faceted is a bit too much.

Umm if anything right now he isn't a scorer he is more of a rebounder and defender. He hustles for his baskets because he doesn't have many moves. Now like many i would love to have Drew Gooden on this team but the problem is we cannot sign him to be on this team without a sign and trade and with that we might over pay him. Nene is a much bigger possiblility for us to get a pf with our MLE since he is comming back from an injury. Or we could go the other route and get a guard like Mike James with our MLE but right now when you look at the roster and see what position will keep us from reaching that next level you see right away that it is the PF spot. At PG we have Alston who didn't have the best of season last year but injuries held him back and also comming to a new system has held him back but look out for him next year to really help out. AT SG/SF we have Tracy Mcgrady and Shane Battier no need there. AT C we have Yao Ming definetly no need there and at PF we have Howard and Novak? Definetley needs help. Do you guys see Howard really comming in and containing a like the duncans and the garnetts and the nowitzkis of the league? I am not saying stop them but contain them no? That makes our glarring need a pf. Now can chandler do it probably can we get him no. Can Gooden POTENTIALLY do it probably can we get him no. Can Nene do it? POTENTIALY but can we get him. We have a shot with the MLE. If we can get any of those three the need at pf will be solved for now and the possibility of us getting gooden is very low because if you remember in the mcgrady trade Orlando originally wanted to put gooden in instead of howard but JVG and Dawson wanted Howard.

Gooden was on a rookie contract; the deal won't have worked if Howard wasn't in it.

As for Nene, it's pretty much common knowledge around the league that he is a scorer, not much of a rebounder and defender. He's bulky and takes up space in the middle, but is hardly a shotblocker. Rebounding-wise, this is a guy who averaged 6.5 boards a game in 32.5 minutes. Hardly a "rebounder".

well a guy that averaged 9points is hardly a scoerer plus we can scrap that signing up denver just signed him for 60 million talk about over paying. Umm memeber on draft night of 2004 it was announced on Espn at first that that it was Francis Mobley Cato Boki for Mcgrady Lue Gaines Gooden and someone else? memeber it was on draft night that was originally the trade.

don't need nene or drew gooden on this team... need more of an udonis haslem type... physical, can hit the open 15 footer and is an aggressive rebounder.

Do you see any of that on the free agent market? Nene came the closest.

If anything the powerforward we are going after now is Tyson Chandler. He is a great rebounder shotblocker and already has the number to prove that. Has been working hard to gaining weight in his dream to be come an All Star. Good friends with yao ming played U-18 stuff with each other. He is not a potential guy he is a good rebounder and would be even better now since he is gaining weight. Very good shot blocker not a potentially good shotblocker. He is not a stromile swift he has proven himself as one of the top defenders. If he really wants to be an all star like he said in hoopshype i expect he'll be working on his offence. Chicago wants vertran leadership and a low post big man that can score. We can give them both in Juwan Howard and Bobby Sura who has toughness that is highly conveted by Skiles.
