Amidst all the draft heartaches, trades and the upcoming free agency signing here's something to cheer you guys out there.[IMG]

The Rockets are trying to defend their Summer League Crown this year led by the return of last year's MVP, Misterrrrrrr Lonnie Baxter.[IMG]

According to Houston Chronicles the Rockets have two players off their current roster, forwards Chuck Hayes and draft pick Steve Novak, and two who played for them last season, guard John Lucas III and center/forward Lonny Baxter, on the team. The other players are guards Patrick Beiline (West Virginia), Hollis Price (Oklahoma), Pat Carroll (Notre Dame), Henry Domercant (Turkey) and Chris McCray (Maryland); forwards Jeremy Richardson (Delta State), Antwayne Robinson (Temple), Matt Freije (Vanderbilt), and Judson Wallace (Princeton); and centers Mamadou Ndiaye (Auburn) and Matt Haryasz (Stanford). Among notable players included is the undrafted Darius Washington of Memphis Tigers.

I was wondering why Luther Head is not included. He should play to develop more his skills in ballhandling and playmaking.

    Starting lineup will be
    PG: Darius Washington Jr
    SG: Hollis Price
    SF:Steve Novak
    PF:Chuck Hayes
    C: Lonny Baxter

I'm surprised we didn't try to get Mike Gansey or Pittsnogle on here.

Hey you guys don't count out Matt Freije from Vanderbuilt. He is a great shooter and has already played in the league one season. Though he hasn't proven to be great. He has played 23 games and started 11 games for the NO Hornets. He didn't shoot that well at 26% from three and didn't seem to rebound that well but he is better now. I believe he has put on some weight. He also has a great motor. I believe next year he could be a better NOW shooter then Novak. He has developed in the ABA. I believe this is the time he is ready for his second NBA shot he is stronger, he has a great motor and he is a great shooter and a hustler. Your thoughts on him?

I hope Washington makes our team and has a strong summer. He has great potential and I think he has some qualities that could make him a demon defensively.

Interesting team. I think the guys on the team who have a shot of getting training camp invites are Lucas, Baxter and Washington Jr. Good enough to win the league again? I'm not so sure but it's baffling why Head isn't included on the roster. Maybe he'll be moved soon?

I would really like to see Vasilis Spanoulis play. I'm tired of just hearing about him.

John Lucas, Steve Novak, and Pat Carroll are tearing up the Summer League, especially John Lucas. All 3 of those are the big 3 scorers, and have lead the Rockets to a 3-0 record. Sounds very positive, indeed.

Washington hasn't gotten much playing time so far... he really hasn't made the most of what he has had either. He hasn't scored yet, and has 1 assist. He should have went somewhere he would get a chance to get minutes.

Yea, NBA.com has a schedule of the games that will be televised by NBATV.

As far as the summer goes, it sure looks like Lucas and Novak would be capable of contributing significantly to our team this year.

Here's a link to the Summer League website where you can read the recaps and analyze box scores like me...

Anyways congratulations to the Rockets for their 4th straight win...wonder if we can win tomorrow...

Darius Washington scored his first points I think...he really should have stayed in college like Trevor Ariza.
