Michael Irvin was arrested for having a drug pipe in his car. His excuse was that it belonged to a rehabbing friend. He put the pipe in his car so that his kids wouldn't find it and he forgot to throw it away. "I know the type of demons they have to fight and I am going to help them, because it's the only way I can keep them from getting to my family. I have to clean up my friends because they are around my boys. It's upsetting." - Michael Irvin This sounds like crap to me. First, anyone who knows anything about drug addiction (I work with homeless men with substance abuse issues) knows that you can't clean up your friends. They have to want to clean up. Second, you don't have to let your drug addicted friends around your kids. It's this second point that makes me think that Irvin is either a complete moron or he is making an excuse to cover a lie, or both. I believe in trying to help men who have drug and alcohol problems. That's why I work in the field that I do. However, a good father protects his children and I would choose my kids (if I had any) over grown up friends who have drug problems. I think Michael could still help his friends without inviting them into his home, but that's assuming he's telling the truth. Addicts are excuse machines and that reeks of excuse to me. Well they didn't find any drugs on the seen but that could be because he smoked it all with his good friend him sure. Maybe him and Deion had a reunion party... He's still going to be on ESPN. I saw that on Sportscenter last night. Watch Monday Countdown and see if they say anything about it. I doubt they do though...

If he wants to give some credibility to that excuse, theres one sure way to do so....take a drug test....that would be the easy way to prove that hes clean....I cant believe his employer isnt insisting he do so, based on his arrest history....I didnt buy the story, its just a little too "classic addict lie" for my liking....just take the test....if your clean, theres nothing to hide....

Dan mentioned the same thing. Irvin did the backpedal as good as a DB, hiding behind legal excuses. Not good for Michael.
I was checking out the football news at Deadspin and found out there's more to the Michael Irvin story. ESPN suspended Irvin because he didn't bother to tell them about the arrest.
