<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Stromile Swift was speechless when he learnt that he had been traded back to the Memphis Grizzlies , according to those close to him. Swift had wanted out of Memphis before agreeing to the qualifying offer and then becoming an unrestricted free agent, which is how he ended up in Houston.

It's not the city. It's the situation that apparently concerns Swift.

His agent, Andy Miller, said it was too soon to predict how Swift will react.

"It's a little shocking for him clearly," Miller said. "It's a business. We'll deal with it, and hopefully make this work."

By the time of his departure, Swift perceived that the organization had given up on his talent. Swift dealt with fluctuating playing time, an ankle injury and the team's mandate to be fiscally responsible as his Memphis days concluded.

"I didn't have conversations with them but there wasn't much to discuss," Miller said of the summer Swift departed. "I do believe Memphis was done with him at that point."</div>

I honestly don't know why Stro is surprised....he had a terrible year and the rockets organization has always been known to pull the trigger on trades involving dead beat players

If Swift didn't want Houston to trade him he should have tried harder. The Grizzlies better turnaround and deal Swift otherwise I can see another year of fake injuries coming from Stro.

Sucks for Swift if he wanted out so bad. What was the exact reason why he wanted out so bad in the first place?

He complained about playing time. He always felt he was better than Gasol and should have been the player being featured in the offense.

Okay, let's be serious here, the chances of him staying are like 10%. His contract isn't too huge is it? New Jersey wouldn't mind if they had something to give for him. He could actually help them.

Hopefully his contract has a therapy clause in it because he is clearly crazy.

Yup, Swift should have signed with New Jersey after they got rid of KMart. I thought Jason Kidd would be able to get Swift enthusiastic about basketball and possibly start living up to his abilities.

Maybe the Grizzlies can put together a package to acquire Nenad Kristic for Swift?

The Nets have Ilic coming in to replace Nenad and having Swift-Jefferson-Carter running the lanes with Kidd would be tough to stop.

You don't think New Jersey would give away Krstic that cheap do you? Nobody wants Stromile Swift. He's a cancer who never plays hard and kills team chemistry with all his bitching. Krstic, on the other hand, gets better every season and at this point has to be one of the NBA's best centers, or damn close to it. The only way I can see the Nets doing this deal would be if we threw in a future draft pick and Hakim Warrick, and even then it's still iffy.

Anyway, I think Jerry West should be fired.

How about sending Swift to New York. Maybe in a deal for Francis? I'm sure NY wouldn't mind unloading a guard to pickup an athletic bigman, and Memphis looks like it has some holes in its backcourt.

I seriously doubt West would take on Francis,if he wanted Francis he could have easily gotten him from Orlando last season when the Grizzlies were wire thin at PG due to Injurys

The Nets were disappointed with Kristic's disappearance act in the playoffs. I'm not sure if they can afford resigning him either with most of their cap space being taken up by Kidd-Jefferson-Carter.

It would have to be a multi-player deal, but I think Swift would at least get the conversation started.

Steve francis demanded out of vancouver so i dont know about that. But the nets should go after him but htey wont give up nenad kristic. I wish you guys would trade him to the lakers for somebody. A line up of Jordan, Kobe, Odom, Swift, and Kwame would be sick.

It cost the Rockets Rudy Gay to get rid of Swift.
    Swift and Shane contracts matched.
It would have been a terrible trade if Swift wasn't included.

Some fellow Rocket fans don't agree with me, I guess they like to see great uncontested dunks every fourth game. Stro brought no more to the table than that.
Juwan Howard started over him and a 10 day contract guy in Chuck Hayes outplayed him.
This kid will get no where because he seems to think he is too good to hustle.
If Memphis finds a taker, they should do it right away. I would take a 2006 undrafted free agent over Side Show Stro

Stro needs a place with simple schemes where all he has to do is fly in for alley-oop attempts every possession. He doesn't try hard and was late to practice a few times. I wanted to desperately see him succeed in Houston but he's the kind of player who's just content collecting a paycheck.

Swift to NJ please I would love it if he came to NJ and actually played to his potential which what I was hoping would happen in Houston, but it didn't. Krstic is staying no matter what so I have no idea what NJ could trade for him. I'm hoping where ever he ends up he can shake of the stigma attached to him and live up to his no.2 pick status.

I'd let go of the thought of him playing to his potential. He just doesn't have the drive to succeed, and he's getting to a point of no return. He's horrible defensively, has terrible hands, has no reliable post up moves, and is undersized for his position. When you throw in his lack of motivation, you've got a player who should be destined for a future in the league. However, Swift's been mooching off of the Grizzlies and Rockets all these years just based on this allure of 'potential.' Sorry to burst anyone's bubbles, but you can't fulfill potential without effort. How quickly we forget all of his shortcomings once he gives us a highlightreel dunk or two.

That's exactly what I found myself having to repeat in this forum when Swift was a Grizzlie. Oh well, here we go again...
